Amanda Nelson is an accomplished entrepreneur and banking professional with a strong foundation in business management and community leadership. From 2016 to March 2024, she founded and operated Blue Haven Barn, The Atrium at Blue Haven, and The Retreat by Blue Haven, three prominent event venues in Sioux Falls, SD. Additionally, her and her husband successfully co-owned a construction company from 2009 to 2020.
Prior to her entrepreneurial ventures, she held key roles at MetaBank (now Central Bank), including Assistant Vice President and Branch Coordinator, where they oversaw branch operations, lending functions and employee development. Her career also includes significant experience in lending and sales at Wells Fargo Bank starting in 2006.
Educationally, they hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota, with a minor in Spanish, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls, where she achieved a 4.0 GPA. A graduate of the YWCA (EmBe’s) Women’s Leadership Program, they are also deeply engaged in community service, holding leadership roles in various local organizations and supporting numerous charitable initiatives.
On a personal note, she is married with one daughter, Aspen who attends Saint Katherine's Drexel, is involved in the Sioux Falls Swim Team, and plays piano. The family has a 14-year-old German Shorthair and enjoys traveling together.
