Barbara Jurist

With 30 years of experience selling real estate in Riverdale, New York, her home of over five decades, Barbara Jurist is truly a local expert. She specializes in the sale of houses, co-ops, and condos, and worked for two other top-name real estate brokerage firms prior to joining Douglas Elliman.

Barbara was born in the Bronx and has lived in two Riverdale co-ops, RiverPoint Towers, and the Whitehall in Riverdale where she has sold many apartments. Her incomparable knowledge of the area is complemented by her patience, understanding, honesty, and willingness to help clients achieve their goals.

Her philosophy in real estate is simple and successful: Listen to understand your clients’ needs, and then match them with the best property at the right price that fits their budget. Everything else falls into place. Barbara enjoys educating buyers by sharing properties that are on the market as well as recent comparables, so they understand market trends.

When working with sellers, she helps them arrive at a realistic price and markets their homes aggressively, drawing on her professional experience, eye for decorating, and all the incredible resources of Douglas Elliman. Follow through and determination to get the job done are at the heart of every transaction.

Barbara attended Hunter College in the Bronx and has a Master’s degree in Teaching Reading from Lehman College. She taught at P.S. 24 many years ago. Her personal interests include family, music, dance and Bridge. She also belongs to a book club, and is active in her local community.
