While I was living in Hawaii - Hurricane Iniki struck my island home of Kauai and devastated the lives of just about everyone there. It was a living nightmare, no fresh water, no electricity, no roofs in many cases. It inspired me to work with the Disaster Outreach Program, where I could help others pick up the pieces of their lives after the hurricane.
