About Bill
Bill Byrne and his wife Shelagh moved from San Francisco to Asheville in 1990 to open a fine dining restaurant on historic Pack Square. Bill was literally called crazy as entire buildings sat vacant and many storefronts were boarded up throughout downtown.
"The bets that entrepreneurs like Byrne and Robert Armstrong, developer of the Haywood Park, placed against the defeatist attitudes are among the most important causes of downtown's success." Asheville Citizen -Times, September 6, 2009
Years of 80 plus hour workweeks paid off and Bill sold the restaurant in 1998 and began his real estate career as an investor and Broker. The focus, commitment and dedication to his previous business are the same work ethics he brings to his clients in real estate. Bill understands what it is to have a dream and for many, home ownership is one of the most significant dreams they can have. Whether buying or selling your home, Bill works with his clients every step of the way, exceeding their expectations with his local knowledge and rich history within this community.
Bill is married to his high school sweetheart and has two sons, 20 and 24. He is currently serving his second, three-year term for the Jubilee Community Church, sits on the board for the Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medicine and remains an active volunteer in the City Schools programs. In the past he has been appointed by City Council to the Downtown Commission, has served as Chair to Bele Chere (the largest free outdoor music festival in the Southeast), has been a student mentor and worked in the schools reading recovery program and coached multiple sports programs for the city leagues and YMCA. He is an active Rotarian and Rotary International alumni, currently chairing the club's 501(c)3 Foundation overseeing the funding of various international and local projects. Bill is an outdoor enthusiast and spends his spare time running, mountain biking, golfing and camping with his family.
