We recently sold our lake view townhouse at Lakeland Village. Having lived in South Lake Tahoe for 24 years, we had heard of Brent Johnson and were aware of his reputation as Tahoe’s Best Selling Agent but had never met him. When they heard we were selling, two guys at the gym said, synchronously, “Oh, you’ve got to go with Brent Johnson”.

We met with him at our unit. We had expected an element of self promotion. There was none. Rather he focussed on Lakeland Village, our unit in particular, and our needs. As a lifelong resident of South Lake Tahoe, Brent knew Lakeland Village inside out.

Sellers are obviously biased by their affection for their own property but it quickly became clear that listening to Brent was far smarter than trying to guide him. He knows the market and what people want. He is honest and affable. Born and raised here, his contacts within the community are strong and enduring. As well, he has broad access to outside investors. We gave him the listing and did what he told us to do regarding a few minor repairs, inspections, etc. If fact, he coordinated everything and left no burden to us.

Out the gate, he set up light staging (Cynthia -excellent!), had great photos taken, an expansive marketing program in progress and immediate open houses. Within days, we had multiple offers at and above the listing price.

Then he navigated the nuances and hitches of escrow through the final closing. Brent is highly intuitive and he’d answer all of our questions before we’d even ask them. Throughout, his equanimity was so reassuring. Brent and his wife Dana are a team. They are so easy to work with and their talents are evident. Actually, they are “gifted” and I rarely use that adjective.

Bottom line is the buyers got a great place. Incidentally, though a seller’s agent in our case, Brent showed great concern for the buyers’ needs as well as ours. That’s remarkable.

Brent knows the area well and has worked in construction so able to provide some good insights into the house even before we hired a building inspector. The building inspector Brent helped us hire was very thorough and knowledge, we loved that he even got on top of the roof, inside the roof and down through all the crawl spaces. After many years of meeting with realtors in the Tahoe area and walking through open houses we were fortunate to have met Brent in April of 2023. Brent showed us homes and consistently sent us listings that fit our parameters. During the home search process it became clear that Brent’s only interest was to land us in the best home for our needs.
Ultimately Brent represented both parties on a home we purchased and we always felt he played the neutral ground well, his integrity never coming into question. I believe the negotiation concluded in both seller and buyer ending up with a fair transaction.

There were multiple times the loan company wasn't telling us next steps, what to expect, etc, and Brent clearly explained what the process would look like. My mind was completely blown by Brent and his team when we purchased our vacation home. All I can say is....wow. Brent was incredibly friendly, responsive, professional, and knowledgeable. First, talking and working with Brent almost seemed like we were friends. From my first email to this day, Brent was always super chill and friendly; still helping me answer questions even after closing. We had three concurrent real estate actions happening at the same time, in different locations, so we had three different realtors. Brent was by far, the best of the three.
Why?
He sold our vacation rental. Since we couldn't be there at the time of the listing, he went to our house, made copies of the keys, CLEANED and staged it for photos and showings. We got and accepted an offer on the second day.
We were living in the house, while it was in escrow and had to evacuate out of the area due to the fires. Brent went down to the house to check on it, water the plants and even feed my daughter's goldfish.
But he's not just a nice guy. He caught things on the paperwork that were completely missed when we purchased it. Straightforward and honest with us about the local market, which he knows well. Communication was immediate between either Brent or his assistant Janine.
Would you believe out of the three transactions, he was the only agent (and it was the lowest commission of the three realtors) to give us a gift? It was an amazing gift-not just the basket, but the wonderful services provided by Brent and Janine.

My husband and I worked with Brent to purchase a vacation home in South Lake Tahoe. We had a great time working with Brent and purchased a house that we are very happy with, even in the competitive market of 2020. We would strongly recommend working with Brent. Here are some highlights of working with Brent:
- Brent is a South Lake Tahoe local and knows all the neighborhoods and roads very well. You can count on him to know all the pros and cons of each neighborhood, how noisy each road is, which area is extra snowy, etc. Brent also knows many people including a lot of builders. Brent oftentimes has access to houses that are still in construction and not quite close to being listed, which is a huge plus.
- Brent has a high level of integrity. He is very transparent and honest with each property we've seen together. He will tell us if a property is listed at the top of the market, even if it's his own listing! Because he used to be a GC, he also has a keen eye for build quality and he's always open to share those insights as well.
- Brent suggested a great bidding strategy that allowed us to purchase our house with a price we are happy with and didn't feel like we overpaid.
- Brent is really kind and is always there to help in the most timely fashion. The house we ended up purchasing is a new build and was still in construction when we entered contract. For the 3 months between entering contract and closing, Brent helped us communicate with the builder, and worked closely with escrow and lender in the most timely fashion. Because we're not local, Brent also helped us deliver quite a few items to the house to install so that we don't have to install them ourselves later, e.g. ring doorbell, smart lock, smart light switch, etc. Brent also inspected the house very carefully and drafted addendum for the items that need to be addressed after escrow closing. In the end, we closed escrow smoothly and we felt really good about the quality of the house.

He was extremely responsive whenever we had questions and really supported us throughout the entire process from searching to closing. It was a pleasure to work with Brent and his South Lake Tahoe Real Estate team. We were from out of town (Washington State) - and needed assistance in first locating a home, and then navigating all of the forms and paperwork required to purchase in California.

We only had a couple of days to view homes in the area - and Brent was extremely accommodating. He had lined up a series of properties for us to view, and we did in fact find our dream home! The process of viewing, signing and returning paperwork was easily handled remotely from my phone. Brent answered or called back within a few minutes for all of my questions and queries (and I had a lot of them through this process!)

What really sets Brent apart was his knowledge of the area, which was key as we needed reputable contractors for remodeling, snow removal, and security of the property. Building contractors - especially in the winter are very difficult to secure in South Lake Tahoe.

If your buying or selling a home - this is the team you want. Professional and Knowledgeable.
