About Daniel

A Portland native and lifelong resident, Dan has built his career at the intersection of real estate, construction, and valuation. He began as a self-employed painting contractor, expanding into full-scale residential remodeling with a focus on basement finishes and additions. This hands-on foundation naturally led to a career in appraisal, becoming a Licensed Appraiser in 2007 and a Certified Residential Appraiser in 2011. Over the years, he has appraised thousands of properties throughout the Portland metro area and Southwest Washington, while also renovating and investing in multiple homes of his own.

Dan’s connection to the water runs just as deep as his professional experience. Drawn to the river from a young age, he worked as a swim instructor and lifeguard, and developed a passion for jet skiing, boating, sailing, and scuba diving. That connection became a lifestyle in 2001 when he moved onto a floating home—where he still resides today, now on his second home within the same moorage community.

With more than two decades of firsthand experience living on the river, Dan offers a rare and authentic perspective on floating home ownership. His understanding goes beyond the homes themselves, encompassing moorage operations, community dynamics, financing considerations, and the many nuances that make this lifestyle unique.

Today, Dan specializes in floating home sales, partnering with Galene Buchholz as part of a top-producing team in this niche market. His combined background as a contractor, appraiser, investor, and long-time resident allows him to guide clients with clarity, insight, and confidence—whether they are buying or selling on the water or on land.

For sellers, this specialized expertise translates into accurate pricing, strategic preparation, and a smoother path to closing in a market where details matter. For buyers, it means informed guidance through moorage requirements, financing nuances, and long-term ownership considerations—helping avoid surprises and ensuring the right fit.

In addition to his real estate work, Dan serves as Vice President of the Waterfront Organization of Oregon board, maintaining active ties with governmental entities and special interest groups focused on the preservation and promotion of Oregon’s river communities.

For Dan, this is more than a profession—it’s a lifestyle he has lived for decades and is passionate about sharing with others.
