David is a 1975 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Finance and Real Estate. He has completed the following real estate courses through REALTORS National Marketing Institute: Introduction to Commercial and Investment Real Estate; Fundamentals of Real Estate Investments and Taxation; Principles and Techniques of Communication of Commercial Investment, all towards his Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation. David also holds the Graduate of Realtors Institute (GRI) and Certified Residential Specialists (CRS) designations and is a member or the National Association of Realtors. David is also licensed by The South Carolina Builders Commission.

David is the past President of the Mid-Day Sertoma. He is a past President, Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Realtors; and since 1992 serves on its Board of Directors. On a state level, David is a past member of the Professional Standards Committee, past Chairman of the Grievance Committee, has chaired or served on the Finance Committee every year since 1990, and developed and served on Special Procedures committee since 1992. Served as Chairman of REF Scholarship Committee, past Chairman of the SCAR Equal Opportunity Committee in 1993. He has served as a State Director for the State Association of Realtors as well as a past Trustee for the Realtor Education Foundation. David was elected in 1984 and 1994 as realtor of the year. David is a Relocation Director for the GRIGGS-FLOYD & Grantham, INC, much time is spent on presentations to companies on the Real Estate Industry and services offered. He has also served as the past director and President of the Florence Country Club.

Married to former Judy Mares of Tulsa, Oklahoma, David is the proud father of a daughter, Lawton, and a son, Neil.
