Mr. Wessling has been an active broker since 1984 and is the owner of Iowa Land Management and Real Estate Company. He and his wife Kathy reside just outside of Vinton, Iowa. As well as the broker in charge of all aspects of the real estate business, Dave also heads the farm management department. That involves the management of farm property in Iowa for clients from all over the United States.
Dave was raised with three brothers on a small farm near Atkins, Iowa. After graduation from Benton Community High School, he received his BS degree from Iowa State University, College of Agriculture while a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and the Iowa State University Cyclone baseball team. Upon graduation he was employed by Linn Cooperative Oil Company where he was involved in all types of agricultural sales. He left the farm supply business and joined the real estate / farm management profession in 1983.
The current farm management aspect of the business involves stepping into the shoes of the clients, in consultation with them on the farm matters. It involves such things as farm lease type selection, tenant selection, crop sales, input selections, farm program compliance, and farm monitoring. All of this is done to maximize income, the good standing of the farm in the eyes of the community and to minimize tax implications to the farm owner.
The real estate business and the farm management business have been developed over the years by following a strict sense of confidentiality and professionalism in serving the companies’ clients.
