About Dawn
I have been a Real Estate Broker since 1984! My parents moved our family out to Covington in 1968. Let me tell you, there wasn’t much out here back then! There was a gas station/Ma & Pa grocery where the Covington McDonalds’ is now complete with a hitching post to tie up your horse (I’m not making this up). There was no overpass at the intersections of Highway 18 and SE 272nd - just a flashing red light indicating it would be a good idea to stop and look before crossing the busy highway! Johnson’s hardware was a new addition to an otherwise vacant four corners.
The closest High School at the time was Kentridge. I graduated in 1974. I went on to Central Washington University where I graduated in 1980 with a degree in Elementary Education. There were very few teaching jobs in King County at the time so, until there were, I got my Real Estate License.
As it turns out, I was very, very good at it! The rest, as they say, is history. I raised my children, Jessica and Shane (and later, a nephew, Anthony) in Maple Valley. They are grown now and I’m enjoying 2 beautiful grandchildren Miller and Emily. Jessica, who is now my business partner, is married to Colin Sternberg a Maple Valley native. Anthony and his wife Kerry have a home in Maple Valley and my youngest Shane Baker works is working in the oil fields of Williston North Dakota for a few years.
I work all over South King County specializing in residential resale and I absolutely love what I do! It never gets old and it is always changing. I have seen up markets and upside down markets but I’m happy to say that I survived them all! But most importantly, I have gotten to know the people in the communities in which I work in ways that wouldn’t have been possible in any other profession. 80% of my business comes from referrals from past clients and so my tree grows larger with more branches. Nothing is more satisfying than selling a home to the sons and daughters of past clients. I don’t even mind that it makes me feel ancient (not too much anyway). I have included some photos of my family and me doing the things we love the most - traveling, hiking, biking, running and spending time together. I would be so very happy to help you or someone you know with their real estate needs. And for those of you who are my past clients, thank you for your support, loyalty and confidence in me over these many years. It means the world to me!
