Then in 2005, he became a licensed general contractor and started his construction company. Since that time, he has built custom and spec homes ranging in value from starter homes to homes in the million dollar price range. He is well versed in ground up residential construction and has an eye for architecture, design, and quality workmanship; all of which have helped him excel as a home builder. For years he has felt that becoming a residential real estate agent would be a natural fit for him due to my extensive construction background and industry resources. Derek always answered his calls, promptly followed up with us each step of the way during the purchase, and tried to ensure that we got the lowest price possible on an already low commission sale. When the listing agent made a mistake after the sale that would have cost us about $300 he stepped up and offered to pay out of his own pocket if the listing agent was unable to correct it. He also ensured that we had every opportunity to inspect the property before we closed on the house in case we decided it was not a good idea to buy the property.

While searching the market in my particular price range we encountered several poor foundations and water damage. Derek's fund of knowledge of building and construction was instrumental in estimating future costs while assessing a property.
