I have lived in the Farmington area for more than 40 years and spent 20 years with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. I took pride in protecting citizens from criminals who tried to prey on them.

I held several positions while at the sheriff’s office: deputy sheriff, field training officer, corporal, and sergeant. For about 4.5 years (of my 6.5 years) as a sergeant, I was also the Traffic Safety Coordinator for the sheriff’s office. I handled all of the traffic grants issued through the NM Department of Transportation. I compiled data and tried to determine when and where we would schedule additional traffic enforcement to try to combat DWI offenses and reduce the number of crashes while ensuring that we did not exceed our budget. I took this position very seriously. The safety of everyone traveling on our streets and highways was very important to me.

On May 10, 2018, while I was attending a two-day traffic safety conference in Albuquerque, NM, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office was recognized for its efforts in combating DWI offenses and traffic crashes. The efforts mentioned were during my tenure as the Traffic Safety Coordinator. I accepted the award and gift on behalf of the sheriff’s office.

During my career, I met–and became friends with–many great people throughout the county. After a long and rewarding career, I retired from the sheriff’s office on February 1, 2019. I chose to continue serving the citizens of San Juan County, but in a different capacity. As a RE/MAX agent, I have access to excellent technology and marketing.
