About Don

Raised in Dayton, Ohio by caring, hard-working parents, Don learned from them many of the skills that have brought him success and satisfaction during his career of service in the Miami Valley. Don's father was a Dayton small business owner in the city and a professional archer for all of Don's childhood.

"When I was a child, my father taught me how to shoot archery. The keys to successfully hitting the target were a steady hand, proper stance, and careful aim by sighting down the shaft of the arrow to the bullseye, Don recalls. After Don completed his undergraduate work in Missouri, he moved back to the Dayton area where he has been in pastoral leadership for 28 years. During his ministry tenure, he made the acquaintance of thousands of wonderful Miami Valley residents. Don's leadership skills are evident in real estate. In 2008 Don received the RE/MAX 100 Percent Club Award. In 2006, Don received the National Rising Star Award during Real Living's annual meeting in Orlando, Florida. He was one of ten agents among Real Living's 4000 agents to be recognized for his excellence in client service and business growth. Don also received the company's Bronze Sales Award and Brass Sales Award for his sales production. In 2015 & 2016, Don was the recipient of the RE/MAX Platinum Club Award.

Since moving to Keller Williams several years ago, Don has received multiple top team awards and serves on the KW Market Center's ALC (Agent Leadership Council).

To utilize technology to provide consumers with state-of-the-art services, Don earned the National Association of REALTORS e-PRO designation. This elite group of e-PRO certified real estate professionals represents only one percent of all REALTORS in the country and are trained to provide high-quality and innovative online-based real estate services.

In his free time, Don enjoys playing golf, traveling, shooting archery, and working with his backyard pond and koi, and spending time with family. Don and Cyndi were married in 1993 and have two boys, Daniel and Benjamin.

The Shurts family lived in Dayton proper for the first several years of their married life. Then spent 16 years raising their children in Beavercreek, Ohio. They currently live just outside of Yellow Springs with their sons, 2 collies, 5 goats, 2 horses, 25 koi, and their Yorkie named "Abby."
