About Doug
Doug started his real estate career in 1977 as an apartment building investment broker with Coldwell Banker in Long Beach California. During this period he won numerous awards including rookie of the year and several multi-million sales awards. In 1982 he was offered the chance to head up the commercial lending arm of Long Beach Bank where he proved highly successful in personally originating over 400 commercial, industrial and multi-family loans over the next six years. During this period he also syndicated a number of highly successful multi-family investments with some numbering over 30 investors per partnership.
In 1987 Doug became a California state certified, general, real estate appraiser, working a number of years in downtown Los Angeles for Landauer & Associates, a well regarded, old line appraisal firm. Here he appraised high rise office buildings, large apartment complexes for the Irvine Company and a diverse aray of single family subdivisions throughout the region. Ultimately Mr. Powell started his own appraisal firm and focused his efforts in the area of the Long Beach-South Bay market.
In 2007 Doug left Long Beach and came to Idaho Falls, the result of purchasing an aircraft (Aviat Husky) from long time Idaho Falls native and friend Robert Hoff. This, he said, is one of the best moves he and his wife, Kathleen, have made to date, both professionally and personally.
Mr. Powell brings a holistic approach to his clients needs with respect to their investments and is excited about being of service to investors in the Eastern Idaho area.
