I am a landlady. I did not want to sell, but MoDOT wanted to put a sidewalk on my front porch as part of adding a turn lane. I had not done a 1031 exchange before, but I knew I needed one before I would close on my house. The title company MoDOT used did not do 1031 exchanges.

A few days earlier I had been looking at houses online and contacted Ellen Kirchdoerfer, who had the listing, about one that looked interesting. Ellen Kirchdoerfer said there was a delay and would not be ready for some time. Knowing I had a time problem, she would look out for something else. She seemed so wanting to help.

When I realized MoDOT's title company did not do 1031 exchanges, I called Ellen to see if her Realty did 1031 exchanges. She said no, but the title company next door did. She gave me the name of the woman and her number at that title company. Due to her help, I was able to close the next week.

When another house looked interesting, I called Ellen. My late husband had always done the buying and this was all new to me. Ellen showed me the house, explained the paperwork, kept in touch, sent me copies of documents, did a walk thru before closing. And now I have a new rent house.

Ellen was not our realtor, but we called her with some basic questions. She went above and beyond to help us even though we weren't her clients. We ended up using her and were very pleased with her timeliness and attention to detail. We would certainly recommend her to our family and friends.
