As all these sales were our primary residence the need for professionalism, expediency, and negotiation skills were paramount. I am so happy I went with George for my home sale! We had begun talking about getting the house on the market in February 2020. He walked through the house with me and gave me some tips on how we could make small improvements make it more appealing for a home buyer. It took us a couple weeks to make the updates and then by the time we were ready to list it, COVID19 happened. Shut downs in Philadelphia put a lot of uncertainty in the markets. We ended up going through with it anyways by having virtual showings, carefully vetted in person showings, and took extra precautions to make sure everyone involved felt safe and comfortable. I had no idea about the neighborhoods, the process, transactions, what to look for (and what not). George has taken me through buying my first house, selling that house, and then buying our second house. I learned a lot from George. We were pretty picky about our first house. He walked us through the process and made it easy find what we were looking for. I really appreciated his advice and helping us figure out what was really important to us and what to look out for.

When I started out looking to buy a house I wasn't sure where to turn, but I wanted a realtor I could trust. Having gone to high school with George I knew he was someone who was trustworthy and would not steer me wrong. He has an excellent demeanor to him, and offered excellent insight. Moving is always stressful, compounded with the fact that this was my first move out of state. I was looking for an apartment in Philadelphia while living in Boston, initially on my own. George was recommended to me through a friend and I am incredibly glad I reached out. George Maynes was certainly the best and most personal realtor with whom I’ve ever worked. Even with such a busy schedule and many clients that I’m sure he has, it felt as though he was giving my girlfriend and me all of his attention. He was willing to go listings I was interested in to take videos since we were out of state and consistently check up on us regarding current listings and made sure our applications and other documents were in promptly. I was a first time home buyer and George helped me every step of the way. We looked at lots of houses in several different Philadelphia neighborhoods. I was pretty indecisive about what I wanted but George was very patient and helped me figure it all out. We looked in South Philly, West Philly, Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Brewerytown, and East Falls. George proved to be very knowledgeable about the pros and cons of each neighborhood and the different houses we looked at in those neighborhoods. We've been in our new home just over a month now (sorry for the late posting), and are still silly happy about our new house.

To begin with, George sold my old house. Apparently, he gave me some pretty good advice on how to show it because it was sold (under contract) in less than a week at full asking price. Really.

Then we went looking for a new place. George found us a house that worked both of us. He got us a good deal for a place that was so hot it was on and off the market in a flash. George was easy to get in touch with and made us great recommendations for a lender and home inspector. He walked us through the process and made it easy find what we were looking for. I really appreciated his advice and helping us figure out what was really important to us and what to look out for. And he was patient with me when we were looking for a needle in a haystack. George helped us find it. We hope to enjoy this house for many years to come. I recommend him to anyone I know who is selling or buying in the area.

I recently purchased a home and used George as my real estate agent. As a first time home buyer he made the entire process extremely easy. Multiple times, I even mentioned that it seemed like the whole process was too good to be true because aside from the normal stress of buying a home, it was significantly less stressful than I had anticipated. The whole process- from looking at homes, to hooking me up with mortgage people, to recommending a home inspector, to the settlement and even beyond- was incredibly easy to understand! George seemed to know what I was looking for before I even told him and I ended up with the perfect little house in Port Richmond- which is saying a lot because I'm pretty neurotic and can be picky at times. We had a great experience with George Maynes. We were moving to Philadelphia from out of town so didn’t have a good feel for the city or the different areas. We were able to give George our criteria for a rental property, including what was essential, desirable and "definitely not”. Before our relocation he prepared a list of properties for our evaluation. We reviewed and provided comments. Closer to viewing day he sent an updated list of properties available that satisfied our criteria. The day we met George he took us to 7 properties, a combination of those on our shortlist and some he thought would also be suitable. He was able to tell us honestly about each property and the area each was in, including proximity to work, nightlife and amenities. We never felt pressured by him to choose any particular properties. Once we chose a property he provided guidance on the application process and helped us navigate new services in the city including gas, electric, cable, etc. The move in process was very smooth during what could have been a very stressful period moving from one city to another. We highly recommend George.

I was a first-time home-buyer looking for a place in Fishtown. I was intimidated by the overwhelming amount of information I needed to know. My anxiety was eased by George who explained absolutely everything about every step along the way. George did an amazing job at showing me homes that were in my price range and within the area I was looking. He knew why the homes were priced the way they were based on location, updates, etc. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared it freely. At no point was he pushy. In fact, I was surprised by his easy-going manner. It made him so easy to work with. He not only helped me find the perfect home, but assisted me in finding insurance, financing, and an inspector. I shopped around for all of those things and George's recommendations came out on top every time. The process of buying my home was insanely easy. I am still baffled by how simple the process was. I watch a lot of home shows and I expected the worst, but constantly was surprised and delighted by how helpful everyone was along the way.

Simply said, George is amazing! We were looking for our first home in the Philadelphia area - coming from a tiny apartment in Manhattan, we truly didn't know where to start. We contacted George, gave him a few of our must-have's, and he immediately got us started looking at listings online and setting up showings. He worked with our somewhat difficult schedule and was able to show us everything we wanted to see on the weekends, primarily Sundays. Being first-time home buyers, my husband and I were very naive about the home-buying process and had a lot of questions. From the beginning, George made sure he knew what we were looking for in a home, suggested neighborhoods and homes that he felt were a good fit, and walked us through the pros and cons of the different houses that we visited. George helped us buy our two-family home in West Philadelphia. He was always prepared for every appointment, and showed us things that we might not have chosen to see on our own. Once we found our home, it was a very rocky road to settlement during negotiations with the seller. He smoothed out all of the bumps, he was always calm and kept us informed of the dates, times, etc.
I would also like to note that we didn't always take his advice. He was supportive of our decisions, but in the end he was right about the outcomes.

He really listened to what we were looking for in a home, gave us honest opinions, and observed our likes and dislikes as we went through homes to help us find the right one.
