A seventh generation Kentuckian and a third-generation realtor, Guthrie was reared on his family’s cattle and tobacco farm in Shelby County. He is a graduate of Georgetown College where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He not only lives and works in Louisville, but he enjoys giving back to his community. Currently, he serves as a Trustee at Georgetown College, serves on the Board of the Headley-Whitney Museum of Art in Lexington, and serves on the Speed Museum Board of Governors. He was the first national President of the Georgetown College Alumni Association, served as Chair, Board of Regents, at Farmington Historic Plantation, served as President of the Historic Homes Foundation in Louisville, served as a Trustee to the Kentucky Independent College Fund and has served as a trustee to the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities. He is also a member of the Filson Club, Shelby County Historical Society, General Society of Colonial Wars and The First Families of Kentucky.
