About Holland
My family moved to Homer from Fox when I was 7 years old. I was warmly welcomed into this “Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea”, where I put down lifelong roots with Homer’s landscape and the community who makes it so special.
As a youngster, I joined the McNeil Canyon ski team and kept on skiing our great trails till graduating from Homer High School.
I spent a few years on the Homer Hockey team and found my love for ceramics while working under the wing of a local potter.
I like to say my first career began at age 18 when I joined the Kenai Peninsula Wild Land Fire Crew. During my first week on the job, I was quickly initiated by the 1999-ish? Mansfield Wildfire. That experience being in my “backyard”, essentially deepened my sense of community and what it means to be a good steward of our land.
Some years later I started up a little local tree service called Saw Sisters. My saw partner and I focused on fire safety and fuel mitigation around Homes. We specialized in technical felling “trouble trees,” and ethical and sustainable lot development for homeowners with raw land. Our concept was to select trees to remove Intentionally and trees to leave, to preserve a private wooded feel, while still having a safe fire buffer for your home. It was the most fun and the hardest I’ve ever worked!
Fast forward a few years, I graduated from the Oregon Trades Women pre-apprenticeship program. The City of Portland hired me as a laborer and soon became a welder, fabricator. Having previous experience in construction and growing up as a Homer kid, made for a natural fit. I loved troubleshooting, reading blueprints, and fabricating Portlands bridges, handrails, and just about anything else you could think of.
It’s been a long time coming, to return home to Alaska. Becoming a parent is hand down my favorite thing, and what gave me that final push to return home.
I want to raise my family here and give my daughter the unique experience and opportunity that only this place offers.
I like to think I bring a warm, familiar, and comfortable experience to folks I work with. I want to navigate, troubleshoot, think outside the box, and inside too. I bring ease and calmness along with my tireless enthusiasm and dedication.
