I had an excellent experience with Jamal Johnson! Me and my wife first met him at an open house very early on in our home search and were extremely impressed with his knowledge of the local market and advice he gave to us as first time home buyers. He stayed in touch with us consistently before we were quite ready and always had a non pressure approach and came from a genuine place. He was always extremely responsive when we reached out to him, addressed all of our concerns and always had a solution for several issues that arose in escrow. In spite of the amount of business that he does, he made us feel as if we were his only clients. He was very well-connected with other agents as evidenced when I went to multiple open houses and told the agent there that I was working with him and they had nothing but positive remarks regarding him. He skillfully negotiated various benefits for me, including getting the seller to cover all of my closing costs and buying down my interest rate. All of this even though we were up against 2 other strong offers on a house that had only been on the market for a weekend. It literally saved us over $17k out of our pocket! I wish I could give Jamal 6 stars. He was absolutely a pleasure to work with and a titan of industry. His knowledge of the San Diego real estate market is well versed and impressive.

He was extremely accurate when it came to the price it would take to have an offer accepted. Not only that, he is very well connected in San Diego and does not hesitate to use those connections to help you out. Our offer was accepted based on the connections Jamal utilized.

Additionally, once the offer was accepted, he went above and beyond to get us exactly what we wanted in terms of seller credits and requests for repair. He introduced us to several contractors to help us get work started on the house, and was always there to listen and help whenever we needed anything. Even the smallest of requests; for example - I needed a quick measurement in the house. He immediately had someone take the measurement and send it back within an hour or so. That kind of responsiveness and attention to detail does not go unnoticed and can make all the difference.

Jamal will certainly be our go-to realtor and I can not recommend him enough. He deserves all the success he will inevitably have and we're honored to have been a part of that.

I seriously don't know how someone can be better at what they do. Jamal is excellent, me and my husband felt very well taken care of throughout the entire buying process.

We reached out to him on a Monday with the idea of buying a fixer upper and by Monday night he had already given us a very comprehensive list of all the possible houses we could buy. He kept updating this list on a daily basis too, giving us ideas on how much it would take to change or fix certain things, which was very useful information given that we had never bought or fixed up a house before.

When it came down to actually seeing houses he was able to schedule showings with only a day's notice. He also organized these showings in a very efficient way to be mindful of our time, which we greatly appreciated. In fact, our turn around time for the entire process was very fast, from having the idea to buy a house to actually closing the deal it took only 3 weeks! All we had to was sign, he took care of all the hard work for us.

Also, Jamal's negotiating power is not to be messed with. He was able to get us into the house of our dreams with a rate buy down, closing cost's payed by the seller and a lot of credit for certain repairs the house needed. Even after we got the house he kept taking care of us by putting us in contact with an excellent group of contractors to work with! There's a reason why he earned the title of best real estate agent in San Diego, he truly goes above and beyond for his clients.

Jamal helped me navigate the seemingly merciless San Diego housing market and was able to help me find and close on a home within about a month of meeting him. He handled all the negotiation with the sellers which I really appreciated since we had to ask them for a fairly hefty credit on the sale price after the property inspection showed unforseen damage to the chimney. He trusted his gut when the first chimney inspector's estimate was suspiciously low; he scheduled another inspector whose damage estimate came in thousands of dollars higher than the first guy. This ultimately ended up saving us thousands off the purchase price of the home. He was easy to get a hold of responsive, friendly, and just overall really great at what he does. 10/10 would recommend to a friend, especially in this cutthroat San Diego market.

We first met Jamal on a Sunday at an open house after spending 2 weeks looking at homes with another realtor. We were scheduled to view another home the following day (Monday) with this other realtor who cancelled on us 2 hours prior to our appointment. We were beyond frustrated by our experience with that realtor due to the lack of information about the process and his unreliability. I immediately called Jamal and his response was “I can meet you there in 30 minutes”. I was shocked. It was night and day difference. We saw a few homes together that evening and the following. After a few times looking at homes using Redfin agents and a subsequent unsuccessful offer process with them, we quickly realized that was not the route for us. We knew if we were serious about buying a home we needed an experienced, professional agent that knows the Poway and Scripps Ranch areas on our side. We chose to work with Jamal and he went above and beyond our expectations. Jamal was professional, aggressive on our behalf, and very responsive. He was flexible during the search process and willing to look at quite a few homes with us. Me and my husband had a great experience working with Jamal! We found him online after seeing him on multiple properties all over San Diego that were coming up for sale in the areas we were looking in. From the moment I reached out to him, he was professional, knowledgeable and wealth of information. We were originally going to be working with an agent that was referred to us by a friend but decided not to after meeting Jamal for the first time. He showed us several off-market properties and we ultimately ended up finding the perfect house that had been renovated by his company. He managed to get the seller to accept our offer before putting it on the market, cover all of our closing costs and get a year warranty on the entire house. Had this house went to the market I doubt we would have been able to get it as it was towards the higher end of our budget and the house next door sold for $25,000 over the initial asking price. As first time buyers, we came into the house hunt not knowing much and he stood out from other realtors by how well he communicated with us about the process from beginning to the end at our initial consultation. We appreciated his market forecasts, neighborhood growth potentials, and how critical he could be of issues in properties that we had not taken into consideration. Another aspect that I really liked about him was that he was available many times on short notice and at odd hours which is extremely important to us seeing as how me and my husband work opposite schedules. He never tried to influence our decision and was always available whenever I had any questions or concerns. That assured us that he was not just here for "another sale" but to genuinely help find us the perfect home that fit our needs. After meeting a few realtors at open houses, Jamal stood out the most to me based on the fact he has a lot of experience with VA transactions and knew the different areas/ markets that we were looking in really well. We started off looking in North County then settled on central San Diego since its closer to my work. As first time home buyers Jamal was there with us every step of the way and was prompt with responses, we never had more than a day or two between calls/emails with questions and information. He didn't rush us at all and always explained the plus/ negatives of each property and area we were looking at based on what OUR needs were. It wasn't perfect, nothing ever is, but he got us a great deal and we are making it our own. We felt as though he truly concerned us getting the best deal possible and not just trying get paid and move on to the next the next one. We can't speak highly enough of our experience with Jamal Johnson. We were first-time home buyers with very little knowledge about how to find the right place. Jamal was very detailed to explain to us every step of the process. We knew instantly that he was the one for us.

We never felt forced to make an offer and when we finally found the "one" and ended up in a bidding war, Jamal walked us through every step of the negotiations, even suggesting that we write a letter to the sellers to explain why we thought they should choose us. While in process, Jamal always kept us updated and checked up on us to make sure we were always okay (currently still checks up on us). We are truly thankful and with no doubt Jamal will be our family realtor.
