Education/Work Ethic:
Graduating from UC Berkeley (BA1987), continuing his family’s long affiliation with Cal since 1921, Jamal is a third generation Golden Bear earning a degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis on social economic trends. Post graduation, Jamal entered the hotel management industry with Hyatt Corp going from an entry level management position to Hotel Assistant Manager. He then followed in the foot-steps of his grandfather Olsen Haviside and uncle Harry Haviside and became a Realtor. Utilizing the learning skills acquired while attending Cal and the long work hours required from hotel management, Jamal attributes his success in real estate sales to his tireless pursuit of knowledge and dedication to excellence by understanding the properties he sells, knowing the consumer he serves and the by constantly learning the evolving dynamics of the industry.

Knowledgeable in almost every aspect of real estate, Jamal has experience in every type of transaction from the most complex multi-party sales, estate/trust sales, multiple offer negotiations and exchanges. He has subdivided lots, remodeled homes and built new construction for himself and has consulted with dozens of clients in the purchase, development and resale of their own properties.

Throughout Jamal’s career he has been a constant innovator always employing the latest technologies. He was awarded two US Patents for real estate products and in the early years of the Internet, he developed a software program for property websites known as ListingSuite along with an accompanying ListingDisc as a paper flyer replacement.
