Jane Sonntag moved to New England in 1975 and settled in Brattleboro, Vermont in 1978. While building a house and participating "hands on" in the construction process, she decided to become a Realtor and help others find that dream home or parcel of land on which to build.
Jane joined Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country Realtors in January 1987 and is licensed in both Vermont & New Hampshire. She served 4 years on the Vermont Real Estate Commission and participated in writing the rules of Agency Disclosure & Buyer Representation. These rules help to ensure that both buyers & sellers have an upfront understanding of how real estate works in Vermont and who the Realtor they are working with is representing in the transaction. Thorough, honest & trustworthy are her personal traits that she strives to adhere to in all transactions, whether representing the seller or the buyer.
If you would like to get to know her on a more personal level, she's done a variety of things before becoming a Realtor. In the 1970's Jane was a weaving apprentice and continued that as a hobby until about 2014. She has a great appreciation for the fiber arts but after several years of dusting off her looms, but not using them, she decided that they would be better off with someone else. They are now in the hands of some very excited weavers and Jane enjoys the photos of the projects that they send her on occasion.
Jane is a graduate of Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, MA, and also a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a B.S. in Phys Ed. Specializing in Exercise Science. She started that career working in our local hospital and helping to set up a Cardiac Stress Testing Lab - unfortunately, that career ended with a layoff. That was 1986 and here she is today- a member of the Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country family ever since!
Jane and her husband Steve like to spend their spare time in their kayaks, on their snowshoes or out cruising around Vermont and other parts of New England in their Miata, enjoying the scenery, and discovering new roads that they have never been on, plus traveling some old favorites when they need to stay closer to home. Steve is a wonderful musician (trumpeter) and she tries to attend his gigs whenever they are open to the public.
If you are a music fan, like Jane is, you will be delighted to know that there are an amazing number of talented musicians living in and around the Brattleboro area. Many quality performances can be heard at several local venues such as the Lounge & the Vermont Jazz Center in Brattleboro, The Yellow Barn Music Festival in Putney, the Marlboro Music Festival in Marlboro, VT, the Iron Horse, or Calvin Theatre in Northampton & at UMass in Amherst to name a few. There is no shortage of performing arts to enjoy around here! And there are lots of artists and galleries in town. Visit "Gallery Walk" on the first Friday of the summer months and dine in one of the many restaurants for a fun night out in Brattleboro. You are sure to want to make this area your home!
