I met Lauren at an open house. She represented the seller, and I chatted with her about the property, what I was looking for, and my timeline—it would be a few months before I’d make an offer on anything. A financial advisor had to look at my assets and recommend a suitable price range. This was a time when residential property in the greater Richmond area sold like hotcakes. I’d owned a home in Short Pump decades earlier and had never encountered a seller’s market like this before. Additionally, inflation reared its ugly face. When a property came on the market, you had to make an offer within the first few days, or someone else scooped it up. Stressful. I don’t even buy shoes under such duress, much less a piece of real estate where I hope to live for at least twenty years.

I highlight the stress of those days for a reason. The market placed buyers in a vice—decide quickly or lose the opportunity. My sons advised caution—there’s always another property down the road. Yes and no. The neighborhoods that appealed to me within my price range would not give me time to ponder. For example, at the property where I first met Lauren, the sellers accepted an offer on the same day as the open house.

Nonetheless, I took my time and looked at lots of places. Lauren sent lots of emails, and I studied them for possibilities. The day came when my financial manager shared the fortuitous number: what I could afford. I would pay cash, no mortgage. I responded to a promising listing, and Lauren immediately scheduled an appointment. We met and toured the listing, and although it was not a perfect fit, it was close enough for me to make an offer. I was thrilled and petrified but convinced there would be nothing to bid on if I waited. Lauren carried the ball in handling our negotiations and getting my offer down on paper. One point was not up for negotiation: I would not buy without an inspection. The seller expected otherwise but finally agreed.

Lauren emailed documents I signed through Docusign, which she passed to the seller’s agent. Ecstatic, I began calling my grown kids, other family, and good friends. The final paperwork would arrive in my inbox by noon. At 11:30 a.m., Lauren called. The seller reneged on the sale, even though she had signed otherwise. I was shocked, angry, and caught off guard. The deal fell through, and Lauren, bless her, agreed with my sentiments one hundred percent. The experience, as one would expect, left a sour taste in my mouth.

Looking for the right place to live turned onerous. Lauren did not lose faith and kept informing me of new opportunities. When a property came up in the same neighborhood where I first met her, she contacted me immediately. Ideally, I wanted a quiet area and a backyard with a view of lush greens—a forest. Lauren and I had already scheduled two other visits when this property went on the market. She fit us in early in the game. When I arrived to tour the property, Lauren had the confidence to highlight what was vital for me. She wasn’t pushy, but she pointed out every critical feature that fit the profile I sought. Left alone, I would not have made an offer that same day. Lauren got me over the hump, and with negotiation and her willingness to think outside the box, the seller accepted my offer.

The day I closed and unlocked the front door of my place, I was happy and yet wondering if I’d been hasty. Now that I’ve settled in, gotten to know the neighborhood, and even gotten elected to the homeowner’s association’s Board of Directors, I’m thrilled to call this property my home. It’s even better than I dreamed, perfect for my needs and budget. I owe Lauren hearty thanks for securing a quality of life far better than I expected. Lauren’s sincerity, caring, willingness to listen and hard work make her an ideal realtor. She deserves all the success she’s already earned and will continue to accrue. LEW

All I have to say is WOW. If you're looking for an agent in Richmond, look no further. I worked with Elizabeth Hagen to buy my first home and two years later, when my partner and I decided to move for a job, there was no question that she would be the one to sell our home. It's said that you will know when you find your perfect realtor, my wife and I didn't really understand that wisdom until the first time we spoke with Sara on the phone.

As first time homebuyers, we were really intimidated by the state of the real estate market. We called a few realtors and only felt worse, like we wouldn't be able to compete, but then we heard from Sara.

After our initial conversation with Sara, we felt excited to restart our home search. She did an amazing job of reassuring us that it was possible for first time homebuyers to buy a nice house without paying cash.

With a 30-day closing window in mind, we were on a very tight timeline to find our first home and move out of our apartment in Florida before our lease expired. We explained this to Sara and she did an amazing job accommodating us. We were only in town for a few days to see houses and Sara did a fantastic job of maximizing our time and showing us a large quantity to properties. I'm sure we broke some kind of record for most homes seen in one day.

Sara did an excellent job of showing us properties that we were actually interested in. Every place she took us was worthy of consideration, I don't think we went to any properties that we decided to leave after seeing it from the curb.

Sara did a great job of guiding us on the walkthroughs, she had a lot of amazing insights and was extremely objective. We never felt like she was pushing a house on us. Sara asked us great feedback questions like what we loved about the house and what we didn't like as much. As our search continued, it was obvious that she was taking our feedback into consideration and really dialing in the kind of home and neighborhood we were looking for as every property was better than the previous.

Since every place was so good, Sara masterfully crafted bidding strategies based on the places we really liked the most, so that we could always have a live offer out there when a previous offer was inevitably declined. She also had some amazing offer strategies that we are sure sealed the deal for us.

Sara was extremely transparent and we felt like she was on our side every step of the way. She is incredibly responsive and provides thoughtful detailed answers to any questions, no matter how seemingly small. Every person that she's recommended has been amazing, from our Loan Officer to our Locksmith.

In the end, Sara seemed to do the impossible. As first time homebuyers, we figured we'd have to settle for something that we sort of liked and then upgrade in a few years, but we closed on a move-in ready house that we absolutely love. Moreover, Sara helped us close on our new home under our budget and with plenty of time left on the clock of our old lease.

Sara Bennett is to real estate what Michael Jordan is to basketball. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone as good as she is in this business, as smart as she is, and (perhaps most importantly) as nice and personable as she is as a person.

We will absolutely work with Sara in the future and we would strongly recommend her to anyone looking to buy a home in the area.

Having spent 3+ years selling our home in Chattanooga (although finally getting our asking price, it was just a very slow market), we moved to Richmond so that we could be close to our 2 children who now had their own family. Four grand kids wanted nothing more in life than to have their Grandparents around, yet the 9+ hour drive from Chattanooga was getting a bit overwhelming. My husband and I had the BEST experience working with Treva Thomas and the whole Jenny Maraghy Team this summer! As long distance, remote, first time home buyers it was very important that we found an agent who understood not just want we wanted but what we needed in our first home. Logan was a fantastic agent to work with! He is incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and walked us through every step of the home buying process. As first time homebuyers we had no clue what to expect, especially in this market. Logan did everything we asked of him and more! He went above and beyond to get us into our first home and we could not be happier. Not knowing anything about what we were getting into, Logan was there for every text, call, and didn't even blink an eye when we needed him to re-explain something. I honestly don't know when he sleeps because he was that responsive, even when we didn't realize what time we were texting him at. He got our offers in on time, made suggestions, but didn't force anything on us (stuff we would have never even thought of!!), and updated us as soon as he had new information. He is not scared to get down and dirty. Seriously!! He went into our crawlspace when the inspector mentioned we had standing water and cleaned it up himself. No source of actual leak, just snow that had come into the crawlspace. Logan did everything in his power to make sure we could close on time and we did! We were even looking to refinish our floors as soon as possible after closing and he made himself available for multiple companies to come out and give us a quote. His professionalism and personality made it such a great experience and we would absolutely recommend him to anyone else looking to buy a new home! I know if we ever move from this house, he will be the first person we're calling! You really can't go wrong with this agent. My fiancé and I reached out to Jenny out of the blue asking to tour a house that wasn’t really even in our budget. We didn’t have a firm timeline for when we needed to buy or really have any idea what we wanted in a house. Jenny and her team didn’t miss a beat and set up a tour the next evening. As we continued our search, Jenny and Terra identified houses we might like, setting up all tours after hours and on weekends due to our jobs. Along the way we felt no pressure whatsoever to buy on any kind of timeline, in any area, or for any minimum price - many showings were even added just for fun! In fact, Terra helped identify flaws in houses, offered renovation ideas, and provided guidance about return on investment. From start to finish we had the perfect experience with the Jenny Maraghy Team. I'm a military veteran and I understand how complex and dialed in a truly outstanding team has to be to put just one true expert on the front lines; the JMT has all the hallmarks of a finely tuned machine in this regard. Jenny has trained and empowered her team and her agents to achieve and excel independently and together as a unit, and it shows in the quality and consistency of their results.

My wife and I are real estate developers from Alabama who came to Virginia in the midst of the COVID lockdowns in April 2020. We've utilized and interacted with a dozen realtors in the past decade, usually reluctantly as we never felt their expertise or utility was worth the 6% price tag when we would close on a home. Not the case at all with the JMT, and I'll tell you why.

We decided we wanted to start looking seriously for an investment property when we closed on our home in Alabama. I did some research into the area and narrowed our choices of realty groups down to the JMT, Long and Foster, and the Hogan Group. In the end we decided to go with the JMT due to their size (medium), their reviews (outstanding), and the perception that the firm was just the right blend of agility, resources, and reach in the area. The night the ink was dry I messaged the JMT and received a reply almost immediately by a young woman named Aiva who clarified if we were wanting to schedule a consultation if we were uncertain of how to proceed or if we were interested in getting an agent right away to get started. From the jump they care about and look after YOUR best interests and try to get you the perfect agent for your needs.

We were fortunate enough to be paired up with Elizabeth Hagen who, like Jenny herself, is a living human dynamo of energy and industry. Elizabeth was positive without being unrealistic, accommodating without being a pushover, and possesses a keen and penetrating insight and expertise when it comes to all aspects of the process of home buying. Since both my wife and I were unfamiliar with the area we placed our trust and confidence in Elizabeth to guide us to the perfect property for us and our family, a place where we could put down roots and grow here in Virginia. I'm convinced Elizabeth only sleeps in 15 minute catnaps; no matter the time or situation she was in constant contact and always available to answer our questions or act on behalf of our interests while locating, making the offer, and closing on our home. She's a truly incredible woman and I feel fortunate to call her a friend and that she's the woman representing my family and our interests.

Throughout the process the JMT made a complex and potentially volatile legal and financial transaction feel completely effortless. We've never felt so comfortable or confident investing our family's future as we have with the JMT. I had to start looking for my own space in February of 2020. Never having owned a house I was clueless on the process of becoming a homeowner. I started out with Alison and right away we were looking at different places that fell into the category of my financial situation. We looked at some duds but we also had the opportunity to talk and for Alison to learn more about me and to determine my needs. She was relentless in sending me information on new listings and advising what she thought the potential was for each place. If I was interested she was quick on getting an appointment set up for a tour. If I found something on my own she was quick to determine the status so we could pursue or move on. When we found THE place for me she helped me understand the process on paperwork and financing. Very much appreciated because...well first time homeowner here...I knew minimal. I was advised by the previous owner that Alison put in my offer so fast it beat out the other potential buyers that looked at the house. Cathy Dyer was a dream to work with. This was our (mine and my husband's) first time at the home buying process. We were excited, but also very nervous. The process for buying a home is incredibly involved and by nature very stressful. But Cathy makes it look and feel so easy! I can't even begin to describe how wonderful it was to work with her (but I'll try).

We knew the moment we met Cathy that she was the right realtor for us. Working with her was like working with family, because we could tell she truly cared about what is best for us. Cathy was never pushy with us, but was a strong negotiator on our behalf. In the end we got everything we wanted out of the contract, which was nothing short of amazing.

Cathy is also very well connected. If you have a problem, need or want, she's got a contact for that! When we were having our home inspected she was making calls for us about getting an assessment of other repairs. She also was so patient with me. I had SO MANY questions, made lots of emails, texts, and calls. She was always quick to respond and put me at ease, regardless of what time of day it was. She carefully walked us through every step and made sure we were covered for the future to. You don't meet many people in any industry as dedicated, hard-working, genuine, organized, passionate, and thoughtful as Cathy. She has an amazing attitude and is the kind of person you know 100% has your back.

Buying a house from across the country is stressful, but Jenny and her team were incredibly responsive right off the bat! After a detailed phone call with Jenny to understand our needs in a house, her associate Terra Dantona stepped in and worked with us.

Terra was amazing throughout the entire process - she showed us listings through FaceTime, and took videos when we weren't available for a live feed. Cathy Dyer was an excellent realtor for my wife and I. She was always on top of everything and made it seem like we were her main focus at all times. She was extremely helpful in finding properties and ended up being better at picking out homes we would like than we were. We never once felt like she was pushing us into a purchase or accepting an offer for our sale. We even ended up far below our budget and couldn't be happier with our new home. That showed me her integrity, because she knew what we could do but never pushed us to that limit; we truly felt she cared about us, rather than the transactions.

She organized us preparing for our open house in terms of minor staging, which defects to address prior to the open house and which to leave alone for the buyers/inspectors to find so we didn't waste money fixing needless things, and was extremely helpful when we ended up with multiple offers 3 days after our open house. She kept us sane when we were losing our minds (which anyone who has sold a house can likely attest to happening at least somewhat).

She was always available, even after 9 (please don't call her that late like my wife did), and not once seemed upset with us. She was extremely responsive via text when she couldn't speak on the phone. She helped us with a contractor to fix issues the buyers wanted addressed (he actually did a good job and was inexpensive; we plan to use him again in the future) and DEFTLY navigated issues between responsibilities the HOA (in our case for our condo) should address vs. our responsibilities per the buyers requests. The deal almost fell through a few weeks after accepting the buyers offer and she put so much effort into assuaging fears on both sides and navigated it to a successful sale.

In terms of the purchase, she was very aware of who to call to address different concerns we had (inspectors, engineers, etc.), and helped us with a complicated transaction that involved the prior owners being moved by their company and the company actually taking over the sale of the home.

I honestly cannot say how good of a job Cathy did. I wish more people I worked with in life assigned as much passion to their work as she does, because she was always helpful, light, and cheerful. I typically don't write reviews of people like this; none of this is hyperbole. She's that good, and I couldn't recommend her more.

I've worked with Cathy Dyer on the purchase and sale of the same home.

I had a compressed timeline due to the market I was buying in offering a rare opportunity. Cathy got me out of my comfort zone on the list price. combining market comps and putting on display her knowledge of buyer demand for my type of house and the Cava premium associated with Cava Capital renovations. I sold at the price point I was hoping I would get but am sure I would have come in below that had Cathy not known market variables and unique draw from a well known builder.

This is my third home purchase and I would say that Cathy is definitely willing to put forth a level of discretionary effort that I am not used to with other agents. My experience with sales in general is that when someone is trying to sell you you can't avoid them and after the sale you can't find them. This definitely isn't the case with Cathy. I first met Jenny when we had a showing that went longer than anticipated and I was parked on the street waiting for everyone to leave. Jenny was running late because she took the time to walk her clients around our large property and down to our pond. Something that very few agents took the time to do. Which there were none available.... Which meant they had to be forced to using what was available.
