Jill Matlock

Crested Butte has been Jill’s home and haven for more than 20 years; she knows this place and loves it. Skiing has been her lifelong obsession, and it's what first brought her here. She grew up ski racing all over Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and after college became a coach at two elite New England ski academies. In 1993, having heard about a little Colorado mining town where the skiing was steep and challenging, her husband Ross and she moved out to Crested Butte to check it out. Competitive extreme skiing, a local invention, was just beginning to take off, and her competitive juices started to flow. She skied and competed internationally for six years and won the US Extreme Skiing Championship here in Crested Butte four times. These days, however, she is a bit tamer. Drawing on experiences from her competitive past, having been a ski instructor for over 20 years and an alum of the Professional Ski Instructors of America's national alpine team, along with Ross's ski industry resume, they founded a ski travel business. They fulfill their passion for skiing by sharing some of the best skiing locations in the world with others. Chile, France, Iceland and Japan are a few of their destinations. Wherever and whenever they travel, they always come back home to Crested Butte. And as she likes to share her passion for skiing with others, she also likes to share this place she calls home with others. Crested Butte is much more than just a ski town. It is the best community of people one could ever imagine. Finding the perfect home and sharing the Crested Butte area with her clients is her pleasure. It is a great vacation spot in winter or summer for a part time visitor and it is a wonderful place to live year-round and raise a family. They have two young boys, and they spend much of their time exploring the outdoors and surrounding mountains with them - hiking, biking, camping and skiing.
