About Joann

Joann Alvis is a California transplant, which is quite a rarity on the East coast. She moved to New York City after completing her master’s in fine arts. She had been used to spending hours riding her bike on the Pacific coastline, taking long walks on the beach and hiking trails in the redwood forests. She knows that sounds like a Pete Seeger song, yet it is no coincidence that Pete made his home along the Hudson River near the Catskill mountains. She too has found a spiritual home here.

In 2008, Joanne purchased a vacation home at Windham Mountain. Her family loves to ski and Windham offered all the amenities they were looking for; a beautiful town, a short commute and a community that welcomed families. In short, they were not disappointed. After 10 years and now an empty nest, Joanne has chosen to make Windham her full-time home. She loves to explore each season throughout the region, whether it is for skiing, hiking, dining, world class jazz, modern dance, or Art.
