About John

John Heaning is a US Navy veteran, having served our county for over 26 years and retiring as a Command Master Chief (E9). Subsequent to his military service, John moved to St. Lucie County and opened up Heaning Home Inspections, which has been his business 15 years. John decided he wanted to branch out further in the real estate field and obtained his real estate license. He will represent both buyers and sellers and especially looks forward to assisting our military veterans. In addition, when a home owner /seller signs a listing contract with John, he will offer a free home inspection, which will allow the seller to discover and correct and problems, facilitating a smoother sale and closing.

John has been an active affiliate member of the Real Estate Association of St. Lucie County (RASL) and the Realtor Association of Martin County (RAMC) and has served on several boards. He received the Humanitarian of the Year award from RASL in 2013 and has been awarded the honor of Affiliate of the Year both personal and small business. He is also a member of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce (past Board Member) and completed their Leadership program in 2003.

John is happily married to his wife, prominent criminal defense attorney Karen Tufte (Heaning). When he is not hard at work he enjoys boating, golfing and traveling.

When my wife and I decided to relocate to the Port St Lucie area to be closer to our daughter and granddaughter, my daughter Jamie recommended John to be our agent. I believe they met several years ago in a local running club. John has been fantastic to work with, he's very professional, knowledgeable and most important I like his patience. It was also very reassuring to know that John is also a certified home inspector too. I am very pleased and confident to be working with John to find what's most likely to be the last place we call home. And for me it's even more personal and reassuring to be working with a fellow Navy Vet. John and I both have over 20 years of service in the Navy. My husband and I met John when we called RE/MAX to find us a winter home in the Palm City FL area. Upon talking with John we learned that in addition to being a realtor he is also a home inspector. We definitely considered that a benefit and knew we were in good hands. We informed John of what we were looking for in a home and our price range. We only viewed two homes to find the perfect one for us. As we viewed the home John was very observant to any possible major problems with the house. When we had it independently inspected there were only a couple minor issues. In fact, John even went above and beyond expectations and fixed one of the issues with his own money and time. The closing went smoothly as John kept us informed though out the process. John also followed up with us after we moved in to make sure everything was fine. We had a wonderful experience with John and we would highly recommend him to help others find their dream home.
