My house was on the market for over 2 years with no potential buyers. I ran into John, an old high school friend, and asked if he could help. After coming to see my house, John believed he could have it sold in less than 6 months; and he did! From our first meeting, it was very apparent that John was extremely knowledgeable and good at his job. He offered great suggestions for getting my house ready to market. I was impressed as well with how well my house was marked. Though he was working with many other customers as well during that time, John was always available to answer any questions I had. I found John to be very thorough and professional and I always felt he had my best interest in mind. The entire process was a very pleasant experience. I recently moved into the Birmingham area from San Francisco, California. I met John Hereford while dining in a local restaurant and struck up a conversation with him and his girlfriend about the real estate market in Birmingham. Because I was new to the area and needed some guidance on neighborhoods close to my work location he was happy to oblige and help. I took his advice and drove around the areas that he recommended. Once I became more familiar with traffic congestion and communities I was ready to start looking at homes to purchase. John was extremely helpful with getting me started. He sent me listings that he condensed from location, price range, and sizes. I was very particular about my needs and he was able to weed out the listings that he knew I was not interested in. Because I have to travel all over the south east for my job during the week, John showed me most of the listings I was interested in over weekend days and evenings. He spent weekend after weekend with me making sure to show me all that was available. Once I narrowed down the perfect new home the real work started. I had been pre-approved for my loan but did not realize all that was involved in getting the loan sealed. John walked me through step by step from the offer, negotiating, financing, and finalizing the purchase. He helped me with the appraiser, understanding what the appraisal read, and also making sure the work that needed to be done got completed. Once all that was over we finally closed. John recommended a Title Company that was also very professional. I think that John was amazing from start to finish. I would highly recommend him for his professionalism, persistence, knowledge, and most importantly patience seeing me through such an important purchase in my life. I met John Hereford through mutual friends. Did not have a lot of contact until about six (6) months after when I decided to purchase a home off of 280. I gave John an idea of what I wanted and within a few hours called me back with a list of homes to see. Scheduled a time and that day found exactly what fit my needs. That's when John showed me his true colors. Never had I experienced a commission salesman going to bat and pushing for what I wanted to pay. I was amazed!! John also had me set up with a lender that made it very easy. I'm in sales myself and would rate John with an + I will use him again and have recommended him to everyone I know in the market. If I had to sum his actions up in one word I would have to say Integrity!! My family is growing and next spring I will be giving John another opportunity. Randall McMillan

John helped us buy our first home. He was extremely helpful, and very tentative to our needs. He showed us numerous houses during a 3 month span, and he was very patient as we got our finances in order. Even after we bought our house John advised us if we need anything to contact him. We did contact him months later about a home warranty question. He responded back quickly as he did before we bought our house. We can't thank him enough! I have worked with John on the sale of one property and on the purchase of two. He is an excellent realtor. John is ALWAYS quickly responsive, which is very important as there will always be unavoidable issues that pop up when closing a deal. He was able to sell my home in only 3 weeks! He went above and beyond to get it sold quickly. He even hosted an open house and got other realtors' attention by having great door prizes at the event. He is also an excellent negotiator, who helped me get great prices on both of the homes I purchased, which results in money in your pocket when you sell. I accepted a position as a Post Doctorate fellow at UAB 3 years ago. I had absolutely no knowledge of Birmingham or even Alabama. I grew up in Missouri and went to Madison, WI for graduate school and then one year in West Virginia for residency. Someone at UAB gave me John's name and I had found a name or two on the internet. I called all three and not only was John the first to get back to me but he really impressed me with his willingness to go above and beyond getting me information and answering all my questions. He was really 'there' for me every time I called. If he didn't answer the phone right then he would call you back pronto. Once I came to Birmingham he spent a lot of time showing me around and showing me homes. He was even a trooper and answered my mother's questions and concerns (she was in Missouri). She was an active mom in the process and wanted to know everything. He communicated with her on the internet and sent her pictures and descriptions of homes. He educated me on everything Birmingham, from outlying areas, traffic concerns, best restaurants and shopping. He helped me find the home of my dreams and then stayed with me through the entire process even helping us find the best bank and interest rate possible for the loan. There was some complications during the back and forth negotiations after the home inspection and he was right there to help. I love Birmingham and my home and I highly recommend John Hereford!
