Julia became a full Broker within a few years after getting her first real estate agent license. She serves waterfront communities from Kittery to Yarmouth and specializes in properties with green features, vacation and investment property, new construction, luxury property and land throughout southern Maine, advising buyers and sellers. Her designations include Certified Global Luxury Broker & Realtor®, Green and Smart Home Certified, Commercial Property Certified, Resort, Second Home, Waterfront, and Investment Property Specialist, and Accredited Buyer Representative
Prior to real estate, she worked as an international market research consultant, publisher, author, and speaker on emerging technology including Wind, Solar, and Geothermal systems; videodisc, CD, DVD, and HD-DVD products; information, music, video and videogame publishing, advanced automotive engine and transportation technology, and films packaging. She founded and ran the international research firm for 20 years before retiring.
Today, she is a Realtor® helping buyers and sellers use primary and secondary market data, building science, and land use information to make informed choices in acquisition, divestment, and development.
Julia has created continuing education classes to Realtors® on green and smart buildings tailored to the Maine market since 2014, led the creation of 29 hours of continuing education since 2020 for Realtors on reducing greenhouse gases in buildings through weatherization, electrification and solarization as well as advanced building technologies that store embodied carbon. Throughout her career she has been a columnist, is currently a contributing writer for Green and Healthy Homes magazine and is a published non-fiction author.
Julia works with leading builders of modular and panelized (SIP) construction as well as stick builders that use the most advanced, cost-effective and energy efficient building techniques available.
Julia enjoys advising clients on buying or selling moderate to luxury properties and has experience in a wide range of geographic areas as well as price points. Her goal is to coach her clients to make their best decisions rather than “sell” them on an outcome. Working this way has resulted in a successful 20-year career in real estate brokerage. Julia has a BA in music and a partial MBA in Technology Management. In her spare time, Julia has had a variety of other pursuits, including being a professional opera and later a jazz vocalist, a sports car racer, a road race tech inspector, and MGB mechanic, a private pilot, a sailboat racer, a ski instructor, a long board surfer, a tour guide in southern Maine, and a very small-scale farmer. She has lived in five different states and two different countries as well as lecturing or consulting in scores of different cities and countries. Currently she renovated a fifty-year-old house to use net zero energy and has taken up painting (the house) and weight lifting.
