Real estate is my retirement career, and I can honestly say it’s the most fun and fulfilling job I’ve ever had—even more than my college days working at a record store! After more than 30 years in accounting—including 17 years as a Controller for a commercial construction company—I was ready for a new chapter. Real estate turned out to be the perfect fit, blending my business experience of managing details, deadlines, and dollars; skills that help serve my real estate clients every day, along with my passion for helping others.
I became a licensed Realtor in late 2020. While still working full-time in 2021 as a Controller, I helped 8 clients buy or sell homes. In 2022, I retired from the corporate world and dove into real estate full time—helping 10 more clients and earning Ace Status with Abbitt Realty. In 2023, I was honored as Realtor of the Year and I assisted 9 clients with buying or selling a home. In 2024, I had my best year so far: 19 clients closed, another Ace Status achievement, Bronze Agent honors with VPAR, and recognition to the Top 300 of Peninsula Real Producers. But the best part was I became a MeeMaw! 2025 was a fun year for me, I assisted 12 clients with their housing needs and made a few new friends too. I got to experience what it’s like to be a fashion model with a professional photo shoot for a featured article in the September issue of the Peninsula Real Producers. I’m still not sure why anyone would want to read about me but I was very humbled to receive the honor. I took my first bus tour trip from Virginia to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Nothing better than Maine lobster. I unfortunately fell short of making Abbitt Ace but somehow managed to obtain VPAR Bronze status. My goal for 2026 is assisting 18 clients, welcoming a new grandchild and looking forward traveling in the fall.
Along the way, I’ve earned professional designations to better serve my clients:
MRP (Military Relocation Professional)
ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative)
SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist).
The SRES designation holds special meaning for me, as it aligns with the season of life I’m in and allows me to help others plan confidently for their future.
I focus primarily on the Peninsula side of Hampton Roads—not just because I know the neighborhoods inside and out, but because I like to be on time (and the bridge tunnel has a mind of its own!). That said, I’m always willing to go where my clients need me.
Community involvement has always been close to my heart. From supporting local soccer organizations to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, PORT, United Way, and the Foodbank, I’m grateful real estate gives me the flexibility to give back in meaningful ways.
If you’re looking for a Realtor® who brings experience, reliability, and heart to the table, I’d be honored to help. Let’s make your dreams a reality.
