KF Real Estate did an extraordinary job for my family which found itself in a very complicated circumstance. My father had passed away in 2005 and unfortunately didn't leave a will behind. During the 2008 Holiday Season, after returning from La Isla del Encanto, I emailed Kathering Figueroa and her staff on January 6th, 2009 (Dia de Reyes) regarding the situation and if they could help us. They did not hesitate to step up to the plate and offer their keen expertise and counsel. Not only did they teach us about how the process works in Puerto Rico, but also provided us with legal representation throughout the entire journey. Ivan Remus, Esq (who works hand in hand with KF Real Estate) provided all of his legal expertise in order to get all of the documentation organized and always made sure he was available to answer all of our questions. Have in mind that our case involved a house in Luquillo, PR, that hadn't been lived in for several years after my father's passing, and his widow and my oldest brother were in Caguas and he works a very unforgiving shcedule as a doctor. My other 2 brothers and sister live in California and just didn't have the means or privilege to make it to La Isla, and I live in Maryland. Add that the state of the economy of the Island at the time (very rough times) and you have a perfect storm to prevent the sale of almost any property. But not if you have KF Real Estate by your side. Margarita Serrano, one of the company's star brokers, worked with us around the clock, through the highs and lows and never let us get discouraged regarding our situation. She even took it upon herself to do many of the tasks that would traditionally be the family's/client's problem. But that's the thing, she and everyone at KF Real Estate treated us as one of their own. Now in July 2011, the sale finally came to a close. Hooray! Perhaps it was fate or just sheer luck, but the Puerto Rican government had opened a window to help the sale of homes, while not penalizing the sellers with Capital Gains tax and at the same time, help the buyer with closing costs and other fees. KF Real Estate made sure that the sale not delay one more minute as this was the break that we all needed. Even Katherine's husband, Guy Sanchez, was available to act on behalf of those who found themselves in the States (via Power of Attorney). And once the sale took place, we immediately received our respective shares of the inheritance. They are top notch, true to their word and class act people and I wouldn't go anywhere else for these services. Katherine and Guy did a great job in helping us find and purchase a second home in Puerto Rico. They understand both US and PR real estate issues which helped tremendously. They went the extra step for us a number of times during what turned out to be a fairly complicated closing process. They made sure that all of the documents that we needed to sign were in both English and Spanish and helped explain all of the various steps along the way.
