Kevin Starkey

Kevin's family relocated to North Carolina from South Florida when he was eight years old, so he claims he has been here long enough to be almost considered a native. He grew up in the Cary area, graduated from Apex High School, and now he and Amanda live in Fuquay-Varina. Amanda was born and raised in Fuquay-Varina. In fact, her ancestors founded the town, and her given name is Fuquay. The joke is that she knows Fuquay so well it is her middle name. Both Amanda and Kevin attended East Carolina University, where Kevin studied Communications, and Amanda studied Political Science & Sociology. They both found plenty of time for (too much) fun in Greenville too.

Shortly after college, Kevin entered the world of Real Estate. He spent his first six years in the industry as a Buyer's Agent on a team, working to find buyers their perfect homes. In May 2014, Kevin stepped up to the next challenge by leaving the comfort of a team to go out on his own. In just one short year, Kevin's business had grown enough to require some help, and simultaneously, Amanda approached a crossroads in her eight-year career in Non-Profit Fundraising. It was the perfect storm of circumstances for Amanda to make the decision to join Kevin in the Real Estate industry. In the years since, the Starkey duo has become the Sold by Starkey Team, and now also includes five amazing Team Members who have become family: Susie, Jen W., Jen D., Brad, & Autumn.

Kevin is an active member of the Realtor community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors (RRAR) and the North Carolina Association of Realtors. He is also the former chair of the NCAR Young Professionals Network, a former chair of the RRAR Young Professionals Network, and a member of various committees at the state and local levels. After graduating from the RRAR Triangle Leadership Academy in 2014, Kevin was asked to serve as the Dean of the Triangle Leadership Academy for the 2016 class.

Kevin and Amanda have two young daughters, Lila, and Nora, who are their world. The four share their home with a crazy yellow lab named Maya and a fat, tuxedo cat named Truman. They love to see live music at concerts and festivals, try new restaurants, spend time with their families, and travel any chance possible – NYC and Key West are favorite travel spots. If only the schedule of a realtor allowed for more weekend getaways. Kevin is a die-hard Redskins fan (do not worry, he will still show you homes when they are playing... but might have to check the score along the way) and tries to watch as much college basketball as time allows. He also enjoys a golf game occasionally, although he claims to be a terrible golfer. Amanda spends her free time helping some of her favorite organizations, catching up with her friends, and throwing a party or shower anytime the need arises.

This is how the Starkeys see it: Goals related to commissions and sales volume are important, but if the #1 goal is to provide every client with a better Real Estate experience than they ever imagined possible, the rest will follow.
