Kirk Ghio

I was born in California, but my childhood was spent right here in Bellingham. After graduating from Sehome High School I attended the University of Washington, where I graduated with a degree in Anthropology and Archaeology.

Culture, language, global perspectives, and a thirst for adventure have always been constants for me, so after graduating from UW I spent months traveling around Europe with a very dear friend. I have since lost this friend and it the laughter and joy of remembering how important it is to create memories that reminds me daily to live life to its fullest.

I met my wife Karen when we were both in our early twenties. We both have a zest for life that became twofold when we met. After time spent working in the Colorado mountains, we longed to return to Bellingham, so we did. After a brief stint in Friday Harbor, we were again called home to the sea and sky that is also mysteriously called “the city of subdued excitement.”

Family is everything to us both. Our two sons, Riley and Reed, are blessed to be residents in a place rich with outdoor opportunities. As experienced parents we can share all that Whatcom County has to offer. Our now adult children are an integrated part of our lives even to this day. Our oldest son is a professional sailor who loves getting people out on the water and our youngest is a talented sewist, SCA participant, and works at the local Bellingham Food Coop as their wine manager. Reed is also an out and proud transgendered human being. We have traveled this journey with him in love and support. It is why our tagline “you belong here” is not just a catchy phrase. I am foremost a proud parent and partner to my wife of over 30 years. It is my dedication to living a life of integrity and honoring that every family is seeking their own sanctuary that I am also proud of my 25 year career in real estate. What does my experience look like outside of the real estate world? I am a passionate mountain biker, hiker, adventure motorcyclist, and dog rescuer. Currently, we have three rescued fur children that will be featured often in our weekly blogs. If two wheeled adventures are your calling, I will be writing about a trip I have planned with friends motorcycling through Norway later this year. like to mountain bike? I live at the base of Galbraith Mountain and can share the best trails and answer any questions you might have.
