About Laura
It was one of the scariest choices Laura had ever made. Moving to a new city and not knowing anyone can be extremely challenging. Despite her doubts and fears, she took the leap. Through it all, Laura learned a lot about herself and what she is capable of.
It was four years ago in 2018 when Laura moved from Indianapolis to Atlanta. Laura had lived in Indianapolis for 30 years. Laura never imagined leaving until Laura's husband, Chris, got a new job that was based in Atlanta. He is a pilot and is typically gone for four days at a time. Flying to Atlanta on his off time only increased the time he was away. It was scary to imagine starting their lives over in Atlanta. Their roots were in Indianapolis, but ultimately, they knew having more time together as a family was the most important thing.
At the time, Laura was a stay-at-home mom with their children Brooke and Bennett. Laura had worked as a teacher for 13 years in Indianapolis before Laura left teaching. When Laura's children started school, Laura realized Laura didn’t want to miss those milestone years. Laura remembers how sad Laura was leaving school for the last time and realizing Laura wouldn’t be returning the following year. There were many times when Laura questioned if this was the right choice.
After staying at home with her children for over a year, Laura's husband was relocated to the Atlanta base. Laura was so grateful to already be home with their kids because he was now gone even more during the week. As they coordinated their move to Atlanta, they worked with a wonderful REALTOR®, Shelley Shope. She took the time to get to know them and their situation. Throughout 2017, she would meet with them once a month when they traveled to Atlanta. They would spend all day looking at homes.
When they finally moved in 2018, Shelley and Laura remained friends. She kept telling Laura that Laura had the caring personality to be a REALTOR®. Laura was uncertain at the time if Laura wanted to use her teaching license along with Laura's master’s in library science or if Laura wanted to make the switch to a new career. Eventually, Laura made the jump and got Laura's REALTORS® license in 2018.
Laura remembers how nervous Laura was starting a new career in a new city. It seemed like an impossible task to find clients when Laura knew no one. Despite Laura's doubts, Laura began to network and grow her client base gradually. Laura learned a lot of patience that year. Laura's hard work and commitment to giving her clients the best experience possible led to continued referrals and grew her business over time. As Laura gained more confidence in her career, Laura began to look at their move as the start of a new chapter in their journey.
Now, Laura enjoys mentoring new agents and helping them learn the ropes. The skills Laura had as a teacher translated well into Laura's role as a REALTOR®. Laura's experience planning classes, sticking to Laura's own established schedule and educating people proved to be essential skills to lead Laura's success as a REALTOR®.
Today, Laura is so happy they chose to move to Atlanta. They have more time together as a family, and Laura has found a wonderful career that Laura is grateful for every day. Laura's parents, who have always supported Laura, moved to Atlanta not long after they did. It didn’t take long for Atlanta to feel more and more like home as they made friends and established new roots. When they are not working, they enjoy traveling all over the world, as well as boating and going to the beach.
There are so many different elements that go into buying or selling a home. Laura's goal is to make the process as simple as possible for her clients by coordinating all aspects of the transaction. This is the biggest investment of your life, and Laura wants you to be comfortable and confident in your decision. That is why Laura takes the time to get to know you and your goals in a pressure-free environment.
Laura's experience as a teacher gives her the skills needed to properly educate Laura's clients so they understand every step of the process. Laura prides herself on staying in close contact with Laura's clients to answer any questions they may have at a moment’s notice. Often, their communication continues even after the transaction is over as they update Laura on everything they love about their new home, and Laura continues to support them as their lifelong REALTOR®.
