About Lawrence

Prior to being affiliated with Corcoran Country Living, Lawrence O'Toole owned his own boutique real estate company, Lawrence O'Toole Realty, for eight years, during which time the company consistently led with the highest average price in residential sales. Lawrence's 20-year career in real estate also saw him work with a number of agencies in New York City and although he officially moved to the Hudson Valley in 1994, he has always kept ties with the city, realizing the synergy existing between there and the Hudson Valley.

Lawrence's knowledge and understanding of city sellers and buyers, their needs and expectations, gives him a definite edge. His knowledge and patience, the result of his years as a principal broker, as well as a working agent, is second only to his creativity in getting a deal going -- and then done.

Born and raised in a small fishing village in Newfoundland, Canada, also gives him an understanding and empathy for local sellers and buyers who are local and truly "country". Extremely well-travelled and well-informed, he enjoyed a successful career as a journalist for 25 years, writing and editing for a variety of publications, the New York Times foremost among them and is the author of a memoir called Heart’s Longing: Newfoundland, New York and the Distance Home.
