Leigh Barnes is a third-generation real-estate professional with more than 20 years of real-estate experience and over 34 years as an entrepreneur. Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, she learned the fundamentals of business from relatives involved in construction,retail and property sales,but her own entrepreneurial drive emerged early. At age 16 she created her first company Leigh Originals, a private label of wedding veil designs. The company quickly grew into a multi-million-dollar enterprise in over 17 states, and in 1997 she became the youngest person in Memphis to receive the Small Business of the Year award from Ernst & Young and the Memphis Business Journal . This early success demonstrated her ability to identify niche markets, develop compelling products and deliver superior customer service.
Barnes later opened two bridal salons—Memphis Bridal Gallery and Jackson Bridal Gallery—and her designs were featured in Women’s Wear Daily . Her resilience was tested when she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She credits her deep faith and “bull attitude” for helping her overcome the disease and says the experience clarified her mission to serve others .
