About Liz
Liz “Lizard” Barrett, Broker/Owner of Lizard Realty, opened her own real estate firm in February 2004.
Active in the real estate industry since 1994, Liz began her successful career in an administrative capacity eventually overseeing five Pinellas County offices with over 120 agents. In 1999, Liz earned her real estate license and started selling immediately. After being loyal to a local family-owned Real Estate Company for over ten and a half years, Liz attained her Broker’s license and start her own company. Currently Liz operates with just two part-time Assistants.
A resident of Pinellas County since 1975, Liz was raised in Dunedin. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1992. From 1994 for ten years Liz resided in Indian Rocks Beach then moved south to adjacent Indian Shores in 2004 for warmer weather. Active in the community, Liz is a founding Charter Board of Director member for Indian Rocks Beach Action 2000, a non-profit organization dedicated to beautification and preservation Indian Rocks Beach. She also is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Florida Association of Realtors (FAR) and the Pinellas Realtor Organization (PRO).
Being an active Realtor, Liz is committed the importance of continuing education, keeping up to date on the industry’s ever-changing laws and strictly adhering to the Realtor’s Code of Ethics. Some of the continuing education classes she has completed are Realtors Ethics Class, Broker 60 Hour Post Licensing Course (GRI, Graduate of Realtor Institute 2 & 3 Courses), PRO’s ‘Market in Motion’.
In 2001 Liz acquired some beach property in Indian Shores. With no prior rental history, she took four runs down beach cottages and after remodeling, major redecorating, refurnishing, designing a website, extensive marketing, managing the rentals made them a success. In March 2007 they were just featured in the “Homes Tour of Historic Indian Rocks Beach” sponsored by the Indian Rocks Historical Museum and City of IRB.
In her spare time, Liz enjoys biking, sailing, kayaking, snow skiing, gardening. She volunteers at Pinellas County Animal Control Animal Shelter in Largo. St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Humane Society are two nonprofit organizations she strongly supports as well as donating time at vacation rentals to the recovering Veterans at the local VA hospitals.
