Mackie Derrick

Born and raised in Anchorage, AK, Mackie grew up enjoying the outdoors and the opportunities that Alaska has to offer, whether it was summer and running and biking or in the winter with skiing. Mackie decided that he wanted to return to Alaska after college and went to the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and drove back to Alaska the day after he graduated college. While getting his engineering degree, Mackie fell in love with architecture and that has followed him ever since. Alex worked in the oil industry for 12 years and enjoyed the work, but his passion grew and budded into a real estate career. He first started as a part-time realtor while working his engineering job, but when he had the opportunity to pivot into real estate fulltime, thanks to the birth of his daughter Ailsa, he left the oil industry to pursue his career in real estate. For the past 5+ years, Mackie has made real estate his professional priority and with his contacts in Alaska from being a life-long Alaskan, active athlete, and professional relationships, he has built a strong real estate portfolio.
