About Marc
As one of Kern County’s most experienced brokers in the multi-family real estate market, Marc A. Thurston has solidified his reputation as a thorough and dedicated broker who prioritizes the needs of clients above all others. A fourth generation Bakersfield native, Marc attended local primary schools and received his B.S. in Business from California State University in Bakersfield. Being extremely knowledgeable of the Central Valley region in general and the Kern County area specifically, Marc’s market knowledge has proven invaluable to his company and his clients, on both a national and local level.
Marc Thurston’s real estate career began in 1990, as a Realtor® with the Watson Realty Company, Bakersfield’s largest residential brokerage firm, where he specialized in single and multi-family investment properties, building a loyal clientele portfolio. Upon transitioning to Newmark Grubb ASU & Associates in 1997, Marc established himself as the primary multifamily specialist in the group, experienced in the acquisition and disposition of units as small as fourplexes through larger, institutional size apartment communities.
In his nearly thirty year-career, Marc has successfully closed over 700 transactions, valued over one half billion dollars. In 2002, he was ranked seventh among affiliated professionals nationwide, earning him the prestigious Circle of Excellence award. He improved his ranking to sixth in 2004 and again received the Circle of Excellence award in 2005 – 2007.
An engaged community leader, Marc has lent his expertise to several local/regional/state associations including:
Bakersfield Association of Realtors
California Apartment Association
Income Property Association of Kern County
