Joe helped me buy 2 houses and sold one house. Most of the time I was out of the country so Joe worked very hard and got things done smoothly. I don’t have to worried about it. He had answered to everything which was very impressive.

My wife and I (Mason and Julia Fridge) moved to the Groton area on military orders in the typical rushed manner of the military. It was our first time buying a house, so we rarely knew what to expect throughout the process. We could not have had a better group to guide us than Joe and his team. We came to Groton to house hunt for 3 days and by the end of day 2 we had found our dream home in Gales Ferry, CT. There was probably some luck to that, but it certainly helped that Joe was able to get us into so many houses to view in such a short time on little to no notice. In this way his experience, connections, and efficiency really shined through. Joe’s team really could’ve taken the sideline at that point since most of their work was done, but they stuck with us through to the very end and provided a level of service above and beyond. Joe’s team planned, scheduled, and ordered all our inspections necessary on the home. They had recommendations ready for attorneys, local lenders, insurance, inspectors, and utilities. They coordinated our lender and attorney to an extremely quick closing. Also, since my wife and I were not yet permanently in the area, Joe personally went to all our home inspections in our place. At any question or request they were available and ready to help a text or phone call away. They even ordered a floor plan map created at no expense to us as a generous gift to aid us in a planned renovation after the sale. Needless to say, I can’t say enough about how awesome Joe and his team are. They really do make the entire process which seems rather daunting so easy. I genuinely believe they had our best interests at heart and we are so thankful we chose to work with Joe!

When I decided to make the cross country move from WA to CT my sister referred me to Joe to buy my next house. I appreciate that he was able to show me CT listings virtually, while I was still in WA packing and organizing for my big move. We explored many options including new construction as well as existing homes. Ultimately he helped me negotiate a great price for a beautiful waterfront home. I also had the pleasure of meeting his mom, Marianne, who made the deal even sweeter by helping me with a few last minute negotiations after the final walk through. Having these two represent me, allowed me to find a great place that I am grateful to call home.

As an international client, The Key Team and Marianne helped us rent our home and oversee the property for 2+ years. Long distance work (Asia) was a big concern for my family but this company was very professional and made the process of renting our home smooth.

I chose the Key Team to sell my home because they sold me my home a few years ago. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Joe was super helpful and met with me 6 months prior to the sale to help me make decisions about the improvements that needed to be done and what the best options were to increase my home value. When it came time to list they worked with my crazy schedule and made the whole process a breeze. I have known Marianne since 2006. As a real estate attorney, I worked with her on numerous occasions over ten years. She was always open and honest with her clients, and if a client was ever dissatisfied with her, it was because she was more concerned with protecting their interests than in merely making them happy where it meant allowing them to walk blindly into a mistake.
While I have always considered her a friend, it was always clear that during a transaction, her client took precedence over our friendship. If her client had questions about some aspect of the transaction that I was responsible for, she asked for and received explanations, keeping everything professional and protecting her clients.
As for the one complaint that has been posted here, it is actually misplaced.
There was a Settlement Statement in your transaction, prepared by an attorney, one who worked for you and no one else. If that isn't the case, then anything that happened is your fault anyway.
That attorney would NOT have put down a number for a Commission you had to pay (whether the usual case of you being a Seller or the less common Buyer's Fees) without seeing a contract signed by you specifying how to calculate what you were obligated to pay.
If you paid a commission in that transaction, you had an attorney who thought you owed it because of an enforceable contract, and that attorney certainly went over it with you before you signed it.
Your time to complain was then, and to the attorney.

We had a bit of a challenge to present to Joe and Marianne Malerba. We had to sell my house in Uncasville before Ben and I could buy a house that met all of our specifications. We needed one that was large enough to hold all of the furniture both Ben and I had accumulated plus a separate private area for my son with his own bathroom. I have a
1930' s antique Butsudan that I use for my daily practice of chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo for world peace, human dignity, and individual happiness. Joe never tired of me saying, "But there's no place for the Butsudan!" He would just keep looking for just the perfect house.

Meanwhile, Marianne focused on showing my place in Uncasville. The challenges there were that not only would someone have a mortgage, but also a fee for the land. Finally, after several open houses, she found the perfect buyer, but the property manager's Administrator proceeded to bad-mouth the house! It took both Joe and Marianne to talk her off the (new) roof!! Finally, after 2 years of diligent efforts, the Key Team helped arrange for the houses to close back to back.

Bottom line is that we couldn't have done it without their combined expertise in all aspects of the house buying/selling process.

The key team, in our opinion, is definitely key to any real estate experience. Never was that more true than this past year, when we had to go through buying a house without them. We bought and sold two houses with the key team and they made the process smooth, easy, and seamless. Then when we moved out of state this year, no matter how many different realtors we tried or met, none of them even compared to the key team. Not only does the key team keep up to date with all the latest real estate knowledge, but they work so hard on your behalf that you have no idea the true amount of work that is required behind the scenes.
