It’s no coincidence that Marilyn Hazard is at the forefront of the Grand Rapids real estate industry. She is a fierce advocate for her clients, has an unbelievable ability to adapt to the ever-changing real estate market and an unmatched work ethic.
After a 20-year career in sales and marketing and an empty nest to boot, Marilyn decided it was time to follow her dream and in her father’s footsteps and become a real estate agent.
Marilyn’s father made the same decision later in his career and it was the best decision of his life. As a national sales manager for an IT company, it required that he relocate his family often. Ready to put down roots, he packed the family up and moved them from New York to Grand Haven Michigan. Grand Haven was a sentimental place for the family, it was where Marilyn’s grandfather built a cottage, a cottage that is still in the family to this day. As a child, Marilyn’s mother would equate Grand Haven to her as a sort of Camelot existence. So, it’s no surprise to anyone, that Marilyn’s love affair with Michigan and the lake started at a young age.
Marilyn graduated with a degree in Urban Planning and Environmental Design from Grand Valley State University. She is extremely artistic and has a keen eye for design. Her true design genius really comes through in her home staging. She is clever and resourceful, giving both her buyers and sellers an advantage in the market; affording them a greater return on investment, and the ability to point out potential in homes that they couldn’t otherwise see.
The proud mother of two incredible daughters, Marilyn says they are her driving force and inspiration for her success. Her youngest daughter is a news broadcaster in Toledo and her eldest daughter Jami, recently joined The Hazard team. Having her daughter work alongside her is a blessing and an honor. Real estate is now in its third generation and Marilyn’s Dad would be proud of the legacy his daughter has built.
When Marilyn takes a rare day off you will find her in Grand Haven at the family cottage. Painting on a canvass, walking the beach, swimming, or enjoying a nice glass of wine while watching an amazing Lake Michigan sunset.
