I am a fourth generation native of Leelanau County. My father´s family was among those who homesteaded North Manitou Island in the mid 1800´s and moved to Leland around the turn of the century. My grandfather and great grandfather started Carlson´s Fisheries, which is still going strong today. My mother´s family received property on the east shore of Big Glen Lake from Ulysses S. Grant late in the late 1800´s. I have lived the last 30 years with my wife Laurie on North Main Street in Leland.
