Martin, owner and qualifying broker of MKM Real Estate, has lived, worked, and traveled all over the world, but northern New Mexico holds a special place in his heart. He was first introduced to Taos and Taos Ski Valley over thirty years ago when he came to ski with his wife's family in the Land of Enchantment.
Seventeen years ago, he started investing in Taos real estate. Now, as an area resident, he has a gained a comprehensive knowledge of the lifestyle opportunities this unique place has to offer. Martin has lived in Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom, and Finnish Lapland and has traveled with his family to all seven continents. Through Martin's extensive travel he has established a network of connections worldwide, and his prior work experience across various sectors has contributed to his general expertise. He brings a wealth of international experience and a cosmopolitan perspective to clients' needs. And with homes in Massachusetts, Liguria, Italy, Taos Ski Valley, and Arroyo Seco, and interests in Taos town, Martin has a deep understanding of the dynamics of second-home ownership. Martin is licensed in New Mexico and is a member of the National Association of Realtors.
A graduate of Loyola University of Maryland with a degree in finance, Martin worked in sales for four years at Eastman Kodak and then moved to Thailand to work in the seafood sector. In the late 1990s, after completing his MBA, he moved to Singapore to work with an Indonesian consumer goods company which was expanding throughout Southeast Asia. In 2000, Martin moved to England as the COO of a telecommunications company. During Martin's time with the firm, it acquired eight other businesses over six years, went public in London in 2004, and was later sold in 2006.
Martin was co-founder of Engel & Volkers Taos Real Estate which opened in Taos in early 2017. While at the firm he practiced as an associate broker and co-managed day-to-day activities. Martin sold his ownership interest in May 2020, just before founding MKM Real Estate, a boutique brokerage with its office located in the heart of downtown Taos adjacent to the Rolling Still Lounge in the DeBor House and Shops Plaza .
Martin has represented buyers, sellers, or both in 111 transactions totaling $53+ million in value in the Taos area.
Martin has been interested in blockchain technology since 2013 and looks forward to working with any buyers or sellers that would like to transact in Bitcoin in the future.
When he's not maximizing his core potential to help his clients, he enjoys working out at Crossfit Yeti in Taos (Martin is a CrossFit Level 1 coach), mountain biking, road biking, skiing, and finding new and unique hikes around the Sangre de Cristos and beyond. Martin is on the governing board of Taos Academy charter school as well as on the board of the Taos Youth Soccer League. Martin also serves as a notary public.
