About Mary
With 28 years of experience, Mary Begier knows the Hawaii real estate market's ins, outs, ups, and downs. She remains current with matters of community importance as she does local and national real estate trends. With offices on Oahu and Hawaii Island, Begier is active statewide and is a past president of the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors® (HIBR) and Honolulu Board of Realtors®, who began selling real estate in Hawaii in 1980. She represents HIBR on the Big Island Business Council, where she served as president from 2002-2003. She is the 2008-09 President of the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay and president-elect of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce. She is the Chamber's Government Affairs chair.
Begier is an outspoken proponent of business. Because she believes "in helping to create the kind of communities we want," Begier serves on legislative and public policy committees. She is part of the team building a solid image for realtors statewide. Statewide Realtor of the Year by three Hawaii Realtors' boards (Hawai'i State Association of Realtors and HIBR in 2001 and the Honolulu board in 2002).
Begier served in the United States Navy, going to schools in Florida and California before being assigned to Honolulu, where she became the senior enlisted female in command of 480 male and thirty-eight female personnel at Pearl Harbor. Governor Linda Lingle named her to the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. She has been nominated to represent the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce on the Big Island Housing Foundation board.
