Mary Premtaj

For more than two decades, broker associate Mary Premtaj has delivered impressive real estate success by placing her client's needs above all else. Originally from Southern New Jersey, Mary graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University with a double major in economics and finance and a minor in calculus. She launched her professional career on Wall Street in an entry-level position at Merrill Lynch. Leveraging her talent for relationship-building early on, Mary made her dream of working on the trading floor a reality by landing a role on the newly formed foreign exchange desk. Over the next decade, she thrived in making markets and taking proprietary positions in foreign currencies during The Street's notorious 1980s heyday.

Marriage, family, and a move to the suburbs came next. In fact, it was her own unsatisfying experience buying a home that first planted the idea of a career in real estate. "The process was unorganized and chaotic," she recalls. Mary knew there had to be a better way. On a gut level, she understood that by combining her Wall Street expertise, business acumen, and creativity with a genuine commitment to service and care, she could elevate the entire real estate experience. It's a recipe that has made her the top realtor in Franklin Lakes every year since 2009 and an annual NJ Realtors Circle of Excellence award recipient since 2010, with platinum-level recognition since 2017. But it's her long list of repeat and referral clients that is her proudest achievement.

As the leader of The Premtaj Team at Compass, Mary proudly serves buyers and sellers throughout Bergen County, with a special fondness for marketing luxury properties. True to her initial business goals, her clients always feel supported and cared for. She fights for their needs, addresses their worries and responds quickly. It's no surprise that she's closed more than $400 million in career sales, including $60 million in 2021 alone.

Mary resides in Franklin Lakes, where she and her husband have raised three kids. In her free time, she loves anything active and outdoorsy, including tennis, paddle tennis, skiing, running and all water sports, but she enjoys spending time with her family and their German Shepherd most of all. Mary is an avid supporter of local nonprofits, especially those helping children and women, and she makes annual trips with her church group to build houses for underprivileged families in the Dominican Republic.
