Top-notch experience, from day one to post-closing. It's easy to see why Laricy is a top team in Chicago, and has been for years. All expectations were met and exceeded. Matt and his team (Jamie, Megan, Jessica, & Mickey to name a few) are thoroughly professional, highly knowledgable, with an EXCEPTIONAL level of follow-thru and detail. All of their processes from day one were just totally dialed in. And this is a true team, where anytime a teammate is handling a part of the process, there was no letdown in the level of service. Well-oiled machine. The hustle and hard work factor are unmatched. These guys are already hammering @ 6-7AM most days - this team works 7 days a week & was always available if/when needed. Truly outstanding client service and performance. And this was all for a $150K property. It's one thing to get that for a $1M prop, but for that bar to be the same for a $150K transaction - that right there tells you everything you need to know.

My experience with Laricy Gary was fantastic
I interviewed 5 different realtors, as I haven’t bought or sold a home in a very long time.
Some were recommended, others I found on my own. Laricy Group was found by my doing a Google search from the realtors with the most sales in Chicago, where my home was. They were number 2.
When I looked at their website, I looked to see if they had sold properties in the West Loop, which they had as I felt I needed a broker who understood my area.
The interview process was interesting. Most showed up like they were “long lost friends”, casual clothes, jeans in some cases, brochures and most important as it turned out, no teams. All say they have a team, but as I found out, you have to dig to find out what tools the person or group you hire has available.
My property was over $1 million, which to me is expensive
After the interviews, I decided on Laricy Group due to:
Honesty: They were the only group that upfront made it clear that to entice buyers, the seller typically ends up paying the buyer’s commission. When I asked in my interview, others, they typically dodged the question but when pushed, they generally said the seller pays.
Pricing: To get you, most promise the sky, but in this market, you and the broker have to set a realistic price. New listings get the most views but keep in mind that views drift off as the property sits. I ended up with an offer on my first view that was good but held out and got a better bid a short time later.
Professionalism: Everyone was great, from their staff, to online videos, to weekly updates on how many views online, how many showings took place in the week, what the potential buyers said about the property after the showing, and to the law firm they recommended that was just as hands on as Laricy Group was.
Every step of the way was great.
In the end, the home sold at a good price and rather quickly.
Would I recommend Laricy Group. Absolutely and have to my closest friends.

Bottom line- Matt goes to bat for you, and I could not recommend his team enough. Everyone went above and beyond to make the selling process as smooth as possible. Their process is extremely buttoned-up and professional.

I actually used them to buy my condo as well, and they were so good that I knew I had to use them when I’d sell. The whole team is exceptionally responsive, one of the biggest reasons I came back. Whenever any hiccups arose, they knew exactly how to navigate them and helped ease the natural stress that comes with selling.

Matt has a boots-on-the-ground approach and was involved all the way through. There were twice a week check-ins with both quantitative and qualitative updates on showings, offers, traction, comps, the broader market, and more. Their knowledge of the real estate market is unmatched.

At first, I was worried about how long it would take to get my unit sold, but their staging, marketing, showing, and ability to navigate offers created a better outcome than I thought was even possible. It sold fast AND I netted more than I thought I would. Will use them again.

Matt is extremely knowledgeable and was incredibly transparent, trustworthy, and efficient during the entire home buying process. We were pretty anxious as first time buyers, but knew that we were in wonderful hands every step of the way because of him and his team’s work.

Matt Laricy helped us with a sale of a condo and a purchase of a house, both within a 2 month period of time (Oct '18-Dec '18). Specific to the sale of the condo, we first met with Matt on a Sunday evening. Placed our condo on the market a week later, and accepted an offer above list price 10 days after our initial strategy conversation.

Concurrently, we submitted an offer on a new single family home on the same day that we accepted the condo sale offer. Matt helped us negotiate and got us an accepted offer on the house within 24 hours.

Although it was our first time buying, I can't imagine a smoother process. We knew effectively nothing about buying a home the first time we talked to Matt and his team, but we were able to put in an offer in just over 2 weeks and closed within a month after that.
Matt seemingly knows every building in Chicago by heart. We would ask him about various addresses we've seen online and whether they fit our criteria, and he could instantly give us all the details (rentability, washer dryers, assessments, any building issues, etc).
His extremely efficient team was incredibly responsive and easily booked about thirty viewings in under a week with no hassle.

I could not possibly have chosen a better realtor to help me buy my first home from out of state. He is the top agent in Chicago and for very good reasons. Very friendly, extremely responsive, thoroughly knowledgeable of both the neighborhoods and individual buildings, and adept at negotiations. Matt is also very ethical. Never pushed me beyond my budget or made me feel bad about how much I can afford. In fact, he tried to lower my budget many times. He got me a great condo in a great neighborhood at a phenomenal price, and the process was as smooth as it could be. In addition to Matt, his fantastic team will support you throughout the process.

I found Matt through his podcasts on YouTube, and during my "interview" with him, I just knew that he is the one. We had a 1-hour call to walk me through the process and he clearly knows what he's doing. One tip for helping you trust Matt: interview 3 agents and save Matt for last. Ask them how they evaluate comps (not analyze; wording is intentional) and compare their answers to Matt's. That alone will help you understand why Matt is top tier. Also, I highly recommend watching his YouTube videos. They'll inform you of the process, the market, and Matt as a person, and help you have a more educated conversation with him during your journey.

Matt and his team are amazing. He sold our unit for us after we had moved from Chicago to the West Coast. From the time he got our listing until we closed on the sale of our condo, he was on it! I do not care what time of day I reached out, Matt always responded. I was kept up to date with all showings, calls and marketing materials. His team is deep & well trained by Matt.

Due to the real estate market & rising interest rates, we did not sell this unit as quickly as we had hoped. However, Matt’s weekly email updates with his insight as to the status of the micro markets in Chicago and his understanding of the Chicago market as a whole, kept us aware and informed while we waited for our unit to sell.

Another point worth mentioning was that our contract with Matt was set to end. We had decided to take it off the market for the holidays & then put it back on again in January. Matt and his team have to be the best in Chicago and it's not even close. Matt works relentlessly and tirelessly for his clients. He made the process seamless from listing to staging to closing and everything in between. We were out of state sellers and Matt and his team took care of EVERYTHING. Repairs before closing, handymen in the interim, countless things. This market is not ideal for sellers or buyers but Matt did not get discouraged one bit, in fact, his pursuit for the best deal only increased with time. He did maybe 6 or 7 open houses; every week or other week, followed up with all interested parties and tracked all activity so you always knew what was going on. And there was a ton going on, more than you would ever expect from a broker. One other aspect that I appreciated is his knowledge of the market. He sends weekly emails on the market pulse. These aren't fluff, fill in the blank templates. Rather they are curated, timely market heat maps that are helpful as a participant in the resi market. If I wasn't Matt's client or another agent, I would actually pay for these as it has so much insider info that you would only know if you were on the ground, moving volume like Matt does.

If I had one piece of advice for Matt and his team it would be to never change. Great job Laricy Team. Would recommend 10/10.

For the readers desiring more details, I have much to say. Being completely new to the world of real estate (RE), I poured through Zillow, Zenlist, Redfin & Realtor, and went on multiple condo tours. During one such routine-exercise of scrolling through Zillow, I came across a condo listed by Matt. While I did not purchase that particular property, I am glad that it got me in touch with Matt and his team.

Matt was professional, considerate & insightful right from the beginning. Prior to my first viewing, he organised a video call with me to understand the kind of properties I was interested in; unlike any of the other RE agents, he also provided me an overview of both (i) the Chicagoland housing-market, and (ii) all the steps involved in completing a successful purchase. I remember binge-watching Matt's Youtube channel that night to learn more about Chicago RE & sound smarter the next time around. His videos (and podcasts) are fun & value-adding.

During my home-search process, I worked with Catherine from Matt's team. Catherine was responsible for suggesting potential properties of interest and scheduling tours with the selling side. Friendly, punctual, informed & most importantly, candid, are the first few words that come to mind, when describing her. Catherine was quite accommodating when scheduling viewings, some even being requested the day of. For a first-time buyer, the process of home-hunting can be a bit overwhelming & having a friendly face to reach out to really helps. After having selected a condo, Catherine was instrumental in providing me with a comprehensive comparative market analysis & procuring a mutually-agreeable offer.

Once finalised, I again jumped on a call with Matt, who reiterated the next steps (like mortgage-downpayment, attorney review, inspection negotiation and other nuances of the closing process) in detail. This is when Jamie came into the picture. She was responsible for requesting, scheduling & following up on each of the mentioned steps. Jamie did a fantastic job, thanks to her stellar organisational skills & industrious work-ethic. I also appreciated her jumping on several impromptu calls with me, especially towards the end of the purchase process.

Overall, my advice to anyone looking to buy/sell their first (or nth) home would be to work with Matt & his amazing team. You will be in friendly & capable hands! I wish Matt and his team success & fulfillment as they earnestly work towards helping people find their dream homes.

Matt Laricy was introduced to us through the Northwestern University Internal Medicine Residency Program. Our daughter picked a different Realtor as she wanted to work with her friend who was working with this realtor. Our entire family was here for that one weekend and we also made an offer on an apartment to buy. However, the said realtor neither moved on our offer and told my daughter inappropriate things about her mother. This unprofessional behavior and her lack of understanding of the extreme brevity of our timeline to buy the apartment led me to drop her. At this moment, I reestablished my communication with Matt and explained the whole situation. Matt did not need to take me on as his client, but he understood our situation and brought us onboard, despite our daughter's initial choice. He introduced us to his staff via email and they couldn't be nicer and super efficient. Joe Novak showed us the houses that were picked by me and some that he thought we would like. I sold my condo with Matt in a tough market. I appreciated his professionalism from the outset (he appeared to our initial meeting in a suit and had a detailed PowerPoint to quickly walk through). His communication & interest was also exemplary. When we met, I was still a couple months away from listing my property, and he stayed in touch throughout.

Once the listing was complete, Matt and his team were almost rabid about getting a qualified buyer. In a tough market, this meant many showings, lots of communication with buyers' agents, and so on. It was clear to me that Matt and his team were putting in 110% effort.

When offers started to come in, Matt quickly advised me about which offers I should ignore and which I should take seriously. There was no attempt to get me to accept a bad offer -- in fact, he was blunt when he thought a particular buyer was trying to "lowball me."

As a first time home buyer, the process can be very intimidating and stressful, however, working with Matt made the process exciting and efficient. From our first zoom meeting, he helped me to develop a great plan for my home search and gave me confidence that his market expertise would help me fulfill my goal of becoming a homeowner. After which, I began receiving weekly market updates and check-ins via email and text prior to when I started my formal search.

Once I was ready to hit the ground running, his team continued to impress me with their organization. Matt was always extremely fast to answer any question I had via call, text, or email. His executive assistant, Jamie, always kept everyone in the loop with google calendar invites for showings, email updates, and a google drive document keeping track of all important steps. Additionally, they set up a dropbox specifically to keep all of the MLS listings for units seen, which I found to be extremely helpful. Mickey, a broker within his company, accompanied me to all of my showings, providing an unbiased sounding board, while contributing his real estate expertise.

When we were ready to sell our condo during the pandemic after finding a house in the burbs, we initially made a mistake and worked with a different realtor. The suburban company offered a discounted commission rate to work with them, so we gave it a try. We learned our lesson! We can’t give Matt enough stars. If you’re looking for a realtor, don’t second guess it. Just choose Matt! We intended to interview several realtors, but we met with Matt first and knew instantly we didn’t need to meet with anyone else! Matt told us in our first meeting that he doesn’t sugar coat anything, and that was something we wanted in a realtor. He is very fun (we seriously miss our showing days cruising around the city!) and professional, but doesn’t waste your time or beat around the bush. He always had the best advice and expertise!

He knows everything there is to know about Chicago real estate. Seriously, he had an answer to everything- even when the listing agent didn’t know. He’s very busy but doesn’t rush your showings and allows you to take the time you need/ask your questions.
