About Matt

You could say that he's got real estate in his blood. Matt comes from a long line of Real Estate Salesmen and Developers that have all made successful careers right here in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas. Matt's grandfather, Joseph McDonald, "Big Joe", is credited with developing 95 individual subdivisions, 13 Church Campuses and many other interesting projects like the Ft. Oglethorpe High School, Alpine Crest Elementary and the famous Space House Property on the side of Signal Mountain. "Big Joe" was, and still is, the most prolific developer in the history of Hamilton County. However, Matt gained most of his experience, insight and skills, from his father, John McDonald, who has been a local land developer for over 50 years, and still has an inventory of around 100 vacant properties. When Matt was in grade school, John took him along to nearly every appointment. Matt claims that he probably saw a thousand deals signed on the hood of a car before he ever thought about what he would do when he grew up. Growing up downtown on Battery Place near UTC, Matt would routinely ride his bike to the courthouse and go to the Register's Office on the 4th floor to print copies of Deeds and Plats for his father. It is this legacy of Real Estate Excellence that is the foundation of Matt's skill in pricing, negotiation, and closing of Real Estate Deals. Matt understands the finer details of Real Estate Transactions in which most Realtors never dabble. Matt has spoken before the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, City Council, and even held private meetings with some of Chattanooga's former Mayors and Commissioners. In 2018, Matt was appointed by Mayor Burke to the Historic Zoning Commission, which protects the historical character of our valuable historic neighborhoods. All of this makes a lovey back drop, but the proof is in the pudding. Since 2016, Matt has been involved in well over $18,000,000 in Real Estate Transactions. He has helped his clients buy and sell homes, development property, investment property and commercial property. Matt is an expert in all aspects of Real Estate, and someone you can trust to get the job done.
