I was ready to hire another agent when my ex-wife, a former real estate agent living in another state, said to interview Meg. She didn’t know Meg, but her research told her Meg sold a lot of houses. I called Meg, talked to her for 30 minutes, and hired her. It was an excellent decision. I had a good house, but Meg didn’t just let the house sell itself. She used her buyer’s network and agent contacts to bring in three potential buyers even before my house went on the multiple listings. Result: a bidding war that drove the selling price of my house $16k above asking (one bid was $5k above that), that included a rent-back (making my purchase and move to a new house simpler and less expensive), and that cut showings and time on the market to the bare minimum.
