I have been a close friend of Melanie for nearly 30 years, which includes her time spent as a very successful real estate agent as well as a great wife and mom raising three wonderful children. During this time Melanie successfully and very professionally marketed and sold my personal residence in Hawaii. She is one of the most disciplined and punctual people I have ever known. Her ability to work efficiently under stressful conditions and nerve wracking deadlines speaks volumes about her hard work, determination, and composed demeanor. Melanie helped us become acquainted with the Honolulu/Waikiki marketplace. We were considering purchasing a second home in HI to be near our two children who live in Waikiki. She provided us with excellent information on recent sales and suggested locations for buying based on our planned living style in HI. We found what we wanted to buy after just one day of looking. Melanie worked with the sellers and their agent to get us a fair price based on recent sales. Melanie coordinated with us to ensure we as buyers completed the numerous steps to closing on the property per the defined timeline. She provided thorough answers to our questions/concerns in a timely manner. Deane and I have known Melanie Meinken for 28 years. Choosing to work with her was pivotal to our success as home shoppers. My first experience of buying a home was back in 1986 with a real estate agent we met at an open house. My impression of his service was that he did not guide us, nor help us with meaningful support in the home buying process. I am not opposed to, in fact I strongly support, the fact that real estate is a business. However, with my first-time buyer level of intimidation, I expected to feel I could rely on our agent to explain things better and emit a sense of caring for what we were going through. Instead, I came away with a very bad taste in my mouth about being a home buyer. Melanie knew that I was going to be a complicated client. Even though she was my very close, trusted friend, she recognized that I would have a lot of baggage and reluctance in going through the home purchasing process. 3.5 years ago, we chose to revisit what it would be like to give up the security of just being renters. I was both serious about looking and serious about hating to look. Melanie did not quit on me and my flaky approach to buying. She showed both resilience in the length of shopping around and communicated concern about the timeliness of taking advantage of market conditions. Finally, we found something so unique and compelling that she knew we would regret it if we allowed me to vacillate for my usual duration. We were on the mainland while the first open house got underway for this property. Three days later, we were touching down in Honolulu and getting a ride home from Melanie. She came prepared for us to go over any questions we had remaining about possibly buying the condominium. To our surprise, and with readiness of heart, we hammered out an offer to be submitted that very night to the owners. If she had hesitated at all, or lacked the resolve to at least challenge me on my preconceived notions of home buying, we would have lost the advantage of being one of the first four offers on the table...and eventually of being the winning bidders! My feelings about going through the home process have been completely revised because I had the privilege with working with Melanie Meinken. She is professional, smart, encouraging, ethical, kind and works hard on my behalf. She is a person of integrity, faith, honor and good humor and provides the highest level of service. She is my dear friend and still I needed a lot of guidance in real estate. I didn't get her best because I am her friend. She is undivided about giving her very best to each one who becomes her client -- that is just how she rolls. If you get to work with her, you are quite blessed to get such quality and true grit.

Here are exceptional service examples about Melanie: 1. She provided thorough review of the contract between Seller and East Oahu Realty and clearly explained how the seller/buyer representation would be handled. 2. She was very collaborative in the development of the marketing program and listened to our thoughts on how and what should be emphasized when describing the features of this property. 3. She assisted with unit staging and took extra care to ensure that the unit showed well. We reside in Kailua and this unit was in Mililani so there were occasions when she would assist us with general cleanup and the watering of plants. 4. She actively showed the unit at every opportunity until the sale was finalized. 5. She provided prompt and valuable guidance when offers were made, when the first accepted offer dropped out, and this attention to detail continued through closing. Communication with us was appropriate in that she would call us when certain information warranted a prompt decision or action, or for lesser issues, email was used being both well-written and informative. 6. She went beyond our expectations in knowing the community and understanding the townhouse association's requirements. 7. My husband and I highly recommend Melanie, as we had the pleasure of working with her as both buyer and seller. We were absolutely pleased with her knowledge, expertise and level-headed approach. She was always a step ahead anticipating the next moves, while keeping us well informed of the process. We were anxious to buy a new home, but had to sell our first one to achieve that goal. Buying and selling at the same time can be overwhelming at times, but Melanie really simplified things for us. Long story short, we sold our home quickly, for over asking price and we are now in the home of our dreams! Melanie always made time for us. After living in Hawaii for 24 years, Judy and I found it necessary to move back to Florida in order to care for her mother. This move would involve many hurdles, and selling our condo was a big one. We thought this process would be difficult since we had decided not to list the condo until after we were moved to Florida. Having been a condo manager in Hawaii for many years, I had come to know several real-estate agents who had handled properties where I worked. We only knew Melanie from having attended the same church together several years ago. We called Melanie to discuss our plans to move and sell our condo. Melanie met with us and assured us that she would do everything she could to make this sell and our transition as smooth as possible. Melanie always had a pleasant, positive attitude, and a professional can do manner that draws people in and lets you know that she is there for you. She gave us confidence that she would get the job done. Melanie had done all the research necessary to help us set a fair asking price for our condo, and explained the importance of not coming onto the market overpriced. This is especially important if you are wanting to sell quickly... which we were. Being in Florida and taking care of signing all the necessary documents would normally be a difficult task, however, Melanie has a system whereby everything can be done online. This expedites the processes which might normally delay closing on schedule. During the process of moving and selling the condo, there were several things that we left unattended which should have been taken care of by us. Things that required hands on attention, which we could not do from Florida. Melanie always found an efficient way to deal with these tasks, yet kept us involved in the decision making process. Melanie always made us feel that we were her only client, quick to respond to e-mails, texts and phone calls... yet we know she had other clients, and she was providing them the same thoughtful attention. Melanie always was available for us... ready to do whatever it took to make everyone happy. Our condo sold quickly, and we closed right on schedule very close to our asking price. All with an absolute minimum of stress and work on our part. I can't imagine how the process could have been any easier... especially from one quarter of the way around the world. Not only is Melanie the mother of one of my best friends but she's an Amazing Realtor. She went so far above and beyond for me. When I told her I was looking to buy a home she wasted no time! We went from sitting in her kitchen to upstairs to her office and started looking! Once we had a price range within 45 minutes of looking she found an amazing fixer upper in my price range. Although I knew I liked it, we continued to look for about 2 weeks! We continued to look at other options over those weeks not knowing that we had already found the one. Upon contacting the sellers and scheduling a showing for the property, she presented me with a folder full of information about the buildings around and a history of sales prices and so much more. She also got in contact with property management and got information on the building. Our first peak. (note this was a FIXER UPPER) - this is what I was looking for The photos just didn't do it justice. It was insane, I almost couldn't believe how much stuff was in the unit. (Buried alive / Hoarders comes to mind) But Melanie was right in there asking questions and getting the information we needed! -note my fiancee was unable to stay inside the place due to a slight panic attack from all of the stuff. This just goes to show how tough Melanie is. Through out the process of multiple showings and inspections Melanie was there every time. When it came down to it, and the selling agent did not seam to be motivated, Melanie went out of her way to ensure a smooth closing and it really came together in the end. Without Melanie to help me I would not be enjoying my newly remodeled home (mostly DIY home renovations) but it looks like a completely new place now! And I have Melanie to thank for helping me get into my first home! It wasn't without hiccups, but Melanie got us through it and we are happy home owners! From Mal and myself we want to say a big Mahalo for all of the time, support and love that you put into helping us find and close on our first Home! P.S. I have recommended Melanie to every person I know that even mentions looking at homes! She was a joy to work with and believe me when I say she works hard and is good at what she does!
