I am a first time homebuyer and had no idea where to go to, or who to talk to. I only knew that the interest rate is the lowest in the history, and that the market is rapidly recovering. I knew I wanted to take advantage of the current situation and buy a house, but I did not know who to go to to make it happen. I started out by searching houses online day and night. It took me couple of months to finally determine what area I wanted to settled down, and it took me over a year to find the right person to help me make it happen. I have read many online reviews of realtors in OC, emailed a bunch, talked to a few, but only met up with a handful. I had a few recommendations from my family members and coworkers, but it was very difficult to find that one right person who I felt that I could trust. After a long extensive search, it was only natural for me to have my guards up when I first met Melisa. I emailed her a few times beforehand, and I liked her prompt response. I had a feeling that she could be the one, but I was not 100% sure, until I met her in person. She drove me around on a Saturday afternoon and showed me a few houses. It was then that I realized I have finally found that one right person to represent me as my realtor. What distinguished her from other realtors is that she was not afraid to tell me what areas to avoid because of the land contamination. I personally read the EPA reports regarding Irvine and Fullerton, so I expected all the realtors in those areas to at least know about the contamination, but surprisingly Melisa was the first person to actually talk about it. Most realtors are too focused on architectures, communities, and school districts. They will tell you all the positive things about the property, but they will never tell you anything negative. When Melisa told me which area I needed to be cautious, I knew right then that I could trust her because I felt that she has my best interest, and that she genuinely cares about me. As the conversation continues, I discovered that her husband, Simon is a mortgage officer and she herself used to work in the industry before she became a realtor. Because I am a first time homebuyer, not only did I not know where to go to for a realtor, I also had no idea who to go to for a mortgage officer. It was music to my ears when she mentioned it and I could not have asked for more. From that day on, our journeys continued. If you are following the news, you should know that it has been a tough market for buyers. According to a recent survey done by Redfin, 83% of current home owners believe that they would get a higher price by waiting one to two years. In other words, only 17% are willing to put their homes on the current market for sell. Considering how low the current interest rate is, it is no rocket science for one to figure out how competitive the market is. I had my fair shares of defeats, but I can honestly say that if it were not for Melisa and Simon, I would not have had a chance to finally become a homeowner. They both have the best knowledge and tools to strategize a deal, and they never failed to provide me with the BEST customer service. I will never forget my experience with them and I am truly thankful for everything that they have done for me. We first met Melissa in 2009, at an Open House in Fullerton, when we first thought about selling our home. She was very pleasant, sincere, and open-minded, unlike other agents we had met. We kept Melissa in mind, until we were ready to sell our home in May of 2014. Melissa might not know, but my husband and I already decided to utilize her services, even before we met for an initial interview in Westminster. Melissa shared her portfolio about our home, her marketing strategies, to stage our home, which we had never experienced before, so our home could appeal to our immediate customers. We didn't want to spend un-neccessary money in fixing up our homes, and she listened and tailored to our needs. She had a great crew working with her, landscaping, handyman, painting, cleaning, and more to make our home looked fresh and new at reasonable costs.
