She is a lifelong Bitterroot Valley resident, was born in Hamilton, Montana in 1977 and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1995. Her education includes classes through the University of Montana at the Bitterroot College for Real Estate and Property Management, accounting, business, marketing, public speaking, and sales.
She has always been extremely active in her community, including Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Sheriff Cadets and coaching Little League baseball. "Whether she is volunteering her time in the valley, working in her store, or helping real estate clients, the one thing that really stands out is the smile on Melissa’s face!"
She is a proud mother of two sons and two stepchildren who keep her very busy with their many activities and school commitments as well as keep her updated on school districts and education programs across the area. Her husband, Eric Shields is a well- known and successful electrician who works around the region. His contacts and expertise add another level of knowledge to her deep connection to the valley. She was the Lifeline program Manager at the Council on Aging, taught a "Stepping On" fall prevention class to seniors and a "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" class. She also owns her own business, Thrifty Threads in Corvallis, and continue to take care of her family with love and many activities. Their entire family of six, ski/snowboard in the winter, camp, travel and ride dirt bikes, racing all around Montana spring through fall!
