About Michael Ryan
Known for patience, listening skills, and understanding, I seek to serve all my clients starting from the moment they reach out requesting a market analysis, comparable properties, title expenses, monthly mortgage estimates through to negotiation of contracts and beyond the close of every property. Don't like all those numbers? Overwhelming? It all can be, and I strive to adjust to your needs and goals, to ensure every client understands the process and the outcome. The more you understand, the smoother the transaction will be!
With over 25+ years of personal and professional real estate experience, I am dedicated to helping clients navigate the buying and selling process from start to finish, to a high level of success.
A long-term resident of East TN, with in-depth knowledge of Anderson, Blount, Knox, Sevier, Fentress, Roane, Washington and the surrounding local counties, communities, neighborhoods, and enclaves, I want to make sure you fall in love with where you live and work.
Supported by three generations of respected Smith and Prater family presence in Knox and Blount Counties, I am currently on my 30th home in 45 years and planning on it being my forever home in Maryville.
Moving frequently throughout my childhood, I was a "corporate brat," per se as most of our moves were as a result of being relocated by my dad's company. My parents made sure I was part of the process of being relocated, I quickly became interested in real estate, homes and enclaves of micro-culture which permeate Tennessee. Once in college, I took advantage of educational opportunities to travel the world — including teaching English in China, Master's degree from Birkbeck College and University of London, a stint studying at Trinity College in Dublin, traveling for research to South Africa, India, and Argentina... I decided to come home and am happy to call East Tennessee my home.
My favorite thing about living in East Tennessee is the breathtaking mountain scenery and distinct seasons. Plus, there is always something to do in our area in addition to the rivers and lakes surrounding our area and the plethora of amazing locally owned businesses, restaurants, outdoor activities keep all of us residents engaged and happy.
In my free time, I also enjoy riding horses, playing polo, digging in the dirt, cooking (my mother calls this Chef-ing), restoring old homes and adventures with my black Labrador, Cotton. Cotton is working towards his AKC Masters title, which I am hoping he will achieve by this fall.
