About Paul
PAUL J. MATEYUNAS, a native to Long Island's North Shore, has been fascinated by the architecture of Long Island since his early youth. Schooled both in the United States and Italy, Paul holds degrees in business and art history. Beginning his career in marketing at Tishman Real Estate & Construction in Manhattan, his interest in historical preservation led him to work as a restoration consultant, which included sourcing everything from vintage lighting to antique paneled rooms.
A Long Island real estate agent for over two decades, Paul specializes in assisting his customers to buy and sell along Long Island’s North Shore. With a wealth of knowledge, he has become a one-stop shop for his architectural/historical clients who desire fine living on Long Island, managing everything from finding the perfect home to advising on its restoration/renovation. His work as a consultant also enables him to advise his sellers on staging and making small renovations to make a big impact on selling their homes faster and for the maximum price.
His experience is not just focused on large estates; he handles everything from condos and co-ops to new colonials and historic manors. Paul has also curated several exhibitions on the subject and is involved in fundraising for several nonprofits and charities of which he is an active supporter and recipient of the Top Advocates for Preservation Award 2012 by the Oyster Bay Historical Society. Since the release of his book North Shore Long Island: Country Houses, 1890-1950 in Spring 2007, Paul has given numerous lectures for museums, historical societies, and other institutions on the Country House era. His second book on historic homes, Long Island’s Gold Coast was released in May 2012. He has appeared as a North Shore historian on Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, BBC, ABC World News Now, and PBS’s Treasures of New York, The Gold Coast. He was the recipient of the LIBOR’s YPN 20 Under 40 Rising Stars Award for 2014. He continues to be among the top producers on the North Shore and with his own projects on the North Shore, Southampton, and Palm Beach.
